G99 introduces his latest acquisition, a vintage Longines Jamboree from 1964, featuring a gold-capped case and a Caliber 280 hand-wind movement. While not an Omega, the post explores the shared design philosophies and quality of watches from this era, offering a glimpse into a broader collecting interest beyond a single brand.
it is of course a Longines. although not part of the Omega family at the time they did produce similar models through the years so i'm happy to post it where it will be amongst friends.
i've had the opportunity to buy quite a few 1964 Longines, but a lot of them were dennison cased dress watches which, although nice, didnt have much going on with the dial. i was lucky enough to find this, a Longine Jamboree with a nice 280 calibre handwind movement, gold capped case and very nice dial with really nice hands.
the movement picture is courtesy of the seller as i havent been able to take the caseback off yet. there are quite a few scratches on the caseback which just shows that it doesnt make its removal easy.

i have aquired another piece as well making 3 this year. its a Certina handwind which was very literally cheap as chips for Mr Fifty Quids
enjoy
Graham
It looks very nice, not sure I like the strap though. By the way, were are the pictures of the Certina? Best regards, George
You should try a " Family " picture of your lovely '64 collection. Bravo! Nicolas.
thankyou George. i will give you a pic or 2 of the Certina as you asked. i'm very upset about your comment on the strap as i chose it especially for this watch. its one i use a lot for gold tone watches, a dark brown genuine lizard. it came with a much lighter and cheap feeling strap. i'll consider your thoughts, but bear in mind i only got it 2 hours ago best Graham
thank you my fiery dragon friend. i will do a 1964 family post for my 10k post. i even have a T shirt especially for it best G
Now I am very intrigued. Well, it will happen at the end of this month or what? Best, Nicolas
i'm going to keep the T shirt a secret, but the post will be whenever 10k arrives. a couple of months i think. G
