Blomman Mr Blue shares a thoughtful photo essay on the LeCoultre Quartermaster, a rare 24-hour dial watch from 1958, reflecting on the desire for time to slow down. His post delves into the watch's unique design, including its two known case variations and the Caliber K831/CW movement, inviting collectors to appreciate this distinctive vintage piece and its historical context.
Don't you have those days when you wish the time stood still or at least slowed down?
Guess that will never happen, in the stressful, rushing society we live in...
The closest you get to make time slow down might be to use a 24h dial...
And if you are a JLC/LC fan - not that many options...
- The Quartermaster from 1958

One rotation per day...
We don't know much about the LeCoultre 125 Jubilé collection, but if there ever was one - I guess this one were in it!
My research on this watch has got me to understand that there were at least two different cases.
Just some quick shots...
Screw down case back, notice the thin lugs.

You all know how much I love details...

PS. You didn't think I would abandon you just because I spend a lot of my time over at the GP forum nowadays, did you...?!
Thank you for the excellent photo essay. Although I'm not terribly familiar with this model, exploring the universe of past products is an essential part of the JLC fan experience. I feel like there's always a new (old?) piece of history waiting to be discovered. This watch is a wonderful example of vocational retro-tech, and the concept has enjoyed something of a re-birth in the form of the contemporary "slow watch" that's being marketed as a counter-culture statement. The idea is similar to yo
I bought something similar some months ago but redder and shinier. I have not found the time to use it yet. Will share later. And to tell you the truth, I didn't know JLC had a 24-hour watch. So much to learn still for me. Ruckdee
.. that LC Quartermaster somehow has a , how shall I say , peculiar charm.. - Unusual but interesting , that paradigm, to let the time pass slower ; Reminds me on the " philosophical " & thoughtful ad from JLC, where the time & hours are compared to a river, flowing by.. " Comme l'eau.. les heures.. coulent" If I may ask : what is the Reference and which movement ? Secondly, is the dial still black or has it patinated into a dark brown ? Thanks for the eclectic share and the very nice pics, Best
The dial is beautiful, with its applied hour markers indexes. To read on a 24 hours scale is so natural and so complex at the same time. That is the fun of it. Huge congratulations on this lovely catch, my friend. There was another piece from the Lecoultre 125th Birthday: The MM Chronometer, by the way. Best, Nicolas
if you think about it it is only "logical" type of dial for a watch Lovely details on this one Love it Do you have two of them? :) :) :) Best my dear friend D
To research and collet JLC is a teasure hunt! :) You never know what you will find around the next corner... Not sure if any other Manufacturer produced that many different watches like the one from Vallée de Joux! Thank you for your kind comments, Tim! Best Blomman
