Alex provides an exclusive first look at the Laurent Ferrier Traveller, unveiled ahead of its official Baselworld debut. This article delves into the design philosophy and technical innovations of this new dual-time timepiece, offering initial impressions and detailed photographs of the prototypes.

Went to the Laurent Ferrier workshops yesterday to pick up something special (but more on this later) and got to see their new piece which shall be oficially presented at Basel in a few weeks.

The first words that come to mind: vivid modernism, panache and stylish. I find it interesting that with the same case shape the Gallet, Laurent Ferrier has managed to make small tweeks to make each of its watches different to the other (tourbillon, micro roror and now the Traveller)

The Traveller is a dual time with the 2nd time zone indicated via an apperture at 9 o'clock and date at 3 o'clock. On the case side are two pushers with a notch in the middle quite ressembling the pushers on grande sonnerie watches. These pushers are used for the second time zone disc to be advanced or go backward by one hour increments.

The movement is a whole new integrated complication on the base of the micro rotor and not an additional module.

There will be two versions: white gold and rose gold as well as different dial choices: blue (gorgeous) and slate grey, the latter also coming with applied indexes.

The 41mm case is just begging to be held with its curvacious surfaces.

OK without further ado here is the Traveller

Sorry for the lousy photos but as this was unexpected I was not prepared and the lighting was terrible and the watches are prototypes

is really a beautiful piece of horology, I have never seen one in the flesh but will certainly endeavour to do so next time I am in Switzerland:) To me it looks perfect, all the details are very well tought off, the hands for example are gorgeous, such elegant times pieces, sober, unassuming, pure class! Have a great weekend. A bientot, Francois

Hi Alex, Your pictures are great in spite of the light you seemed not to like. We really can appreciate at a high definition the pureness of the case, the pushers' shape, the dial... (and even your face on the first one ;) ) Well, about the watch, it is an original layout to have this Travelling hour symmetrical to the date window, but I think it leaves the rest of the dial neat, and that is a good thing: no additional hand or sub-dial. I think I like it that way. Even if I leave the "simpler" M

and I am really looking forward to check it out in Basel - especially the two (sophisticated) pushers on the left :-) Thanks, Alex! Oliver

but then I spent a bit of time looking at your pictures, and I quite like these. LF has a style all his own - I hope to see one of them in the metal some day soon. Thanks for posting. Darren
