Now that the Lange hype has cooled, the striking time seems like an amazing deal. You get digital minutes and a cool striking time feature, plus relatively good execution for a pretty reasonable price…

I used to own the OG Zeitwerk and had no problem wearing it daily. Has anyone owned the striking time here? How wearable is it as a daily? Reliability ok?

The gold version with a white dial seems more appealing to me as it seems like it can pair with more straps…

About the A. Lange & Sohne Zeitwerk Striking Time Ref. 140.032

The Zeitwerk Striking Time represents A. Lange & Söhne's most ambitious entry into the realm of acoustic complications, building upon the revolutionary digital time display introduced with the original Zeitwerk in 2009. This model extends the brand's signature jumping numerals concept into chiming territory, marking Lange's return to striking complications after decades of focusing on other haute horlogerie disciplines. The piece sits at the apex of the Zeitwerk collection, demonstrating the manufacture's ability to merge mechanical innovation with acoustic artistry.

Powered by the manually-wound L043.5 movement, the Striking Time features a time-on-demand chiming mechanism that sounds hours and quarter-hours when the pusher is activated. The technical challenge of synchronizing the jumping digital display with the acoustic complication required extensive engineering, resulting in a movement with 771 components. The familiar Zeitwerk architecture of oversized numeral apertures at 12 and 3 o'clock is retained, while the sub-dial configuration accommodates the power reserve and running seconds displays necessary for the complex movement.

With production limited and pricing positioned well into six figures, the Zeitwerk Striking Time occupies rarefied air in the contemporary collecting landscape. The model appeals to collectors seeking both horological innovation and acoustic complications, representing one of the few modern interpretations of chiming watches that doesn't rely on traditional minute repeater architecture. Its position within Lange's hierarchy places it among the manufacture's most significant contemporary achievements.

When it was issued, I listened to it, and I was not impressed. Not loud enough, the sound. Now I cannot say about the definitive watch.

Is there any video you think does a good job of accurately representing the sound?

There seems to be a noticeable difference between the older and newer version of the watch, according to these videos by Tim Mosso:

Another option could be the L.U.C Strike One, which is

a very beautiful watch and which strikes loud. Best, Emmanuel credit: Watchonista
