Glad to be able to view and have some hands on time with the highly anticipated Odysseus, Lange’s first steel sports watch
The 40.5mm steel case and 11.1mm thickness wears perfectly on my small wrist. I also appreciate that Lange came out with a new manufacture caliber L155.1 (also known as the Datomatic) together with this new model. It features Day and Date windows with quick set pushers on the right side of the case. And the pushers are as per the usual Lange standard, buttery smooth.
My personal take is that the bracelet is well build and finished to a high standard. It even has easy to use micro-adjustment which is a very nice touch. However it does not pair very well with the case and dial. Somehow it straddles somewhere between elegant and sporty but not enough on either aspects. The bracelet is an integral part of a modern luxury sports model and I feel it can be better here. I understand that there will be straps option coming for the Odysseus next year and I hope that Lange will come out with a nice rubber strap for the Odysseus. I believe the Odysseus will definitely look better on a nice quality rubber strap. This will enable the watch to better embrace its intended identity as a luxury sports watch.
