Emmanuel, known as quattro on WatchProSite, provides an invaluable reference guide to the A. Lange & Söhne Langematik Perpetual Calendar. His detailed overview, complete with reference numbers and production dates, serves as an essential resource for collectors navigating the nuances of this significant timepiece. This article synthesizes community insights, offering a deeper appreciation for a watch that masterfully combines horological complexity with understated elegance.

Measuring 38.5 x 10.2 mm, the A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Langematik Perpetual Calendar is powered by automatic Sax-O-Mat caliber L922.1.

Introduced in 2001 (in yellow gold and platinum), it was discontinued in 2024.

It was the first mechanical wristwatch that combined a perpetual calendar with a Lange outsize date.

Do you like this perpetual calendar and do you have a favorite variant

Yellow gold on leather strap, for me.

Best, Emmanuel

About the A. Lange and Söhne Langematik Perpetual 18kt Yellow Gold Ref. 310.021

The Langematik Perpetual Calendar reference 310.021, introduced in 2001, represents a significant offering within the brand's perpetual calendar complications. It was notable for combining a perpetual calendar with the Lange outsize date, a signature element of the manufacture. This reference was part of the initial launch of the Langematik Perpetual Calendar series, establishing the design language and technical foundation for subsequent iterations. It was produced in yellow gold and platinum variants upon its introduction.

This particular reference features an 18kt yellow gold case measuring 38.5 mm in diameter and 10.2 mm in thickness. It is powered by the automatic Sax-O-Mat caliber L922.1, which provides a power reserve of 46 hours. The watch is fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and typically presented on a brown leather strap, complementing its champagne dial. The fixed bezel maintains the classic profile of the Langematik line.

For collectors, the 310.021 holds interest as an early example of the Langematik Perpetual Calendar, marking a key development in the brand's complicated watch offerings. Its production run extended until 2024, indicating a sustained presence in the catalog. The yellow gold execution on a leather strap is a traditional configuration, appealing to those who appreciate classic watchmaking aesthetics combined with advanced mechanical functionality.

after the Richard Lange Terraluna (which is probably my ultimate “grail watch”). I particularly like the reference in platinum with the silver dial. I’ve been disappointed that Lange has pretty much given up on the Sax-O-Mat caliber. Earlier this week, staff at the NYC Lange boutique told me it’s become too expensive for them to continue using. I’m skeptical, but I understand the appeal of the newer alternative base auto caliber’s longer power reserve.

But, let's face it: it's a beast and the proportions of the Langematik would work much better for me. The L086.8 has indeed a much longer power reserve than the Sax-O-Mat, but is it as visually appealing? Not to me! Best, Emmanuel

I misinterpreted your “I'm glad to have had it”: with “an old pic” it sounded like it was gone. Fortunately it's not!

I still prefer the look of it and chose it as my 1st perpetual calendar after years of searching. Somehow the shiny Pt and blue works for me.
