Nicolas, known as amanico on WatchProSite, shares his appreciation for the A. Lange & Söhne Lange One Time Zone, a timepiece he ranks highly in his personal collection. His post highlights the unique display of travel time and showcases his preferred dial variations, including the striking black dial and the special 25th Anniversary edition. This article delves into the community's perspective on this distinctive complication.

The Lange 1 Time Zone represents A. Lange & Söhne's sophisticated approach to the dual-time complication, building upon the foundational design language established with the original Lange 1 in 1994. This model extends the brand's post-reunification renaissance narrative, demonstrating how traditional Saxon watchmaking could evolve to meet contemporary travel demands while maintaining the asymmetrical dial architecture that became synonymous with the Lange identity.
Powered by the L031.1 manufacture movement, this timepiece showcases Lange's technical philosophy through its jumping hour mechanism for the second time zone and the signature oversized date display at 3 o'clock. The world time ring occupies the dial's perimeter, listing major cities while the home time subdial at 9 o'clock provides clear differentiation between local and reference time. The movement's three-quarter plate construction and hand-engraved balance cock represent Glashütte finishing traditions adapted for modern precision requirements.
Within Lange's contemporary catalog, the Time Zone commands respect among serious collectors who value functional complications over pure horological theater. The 41.9mm case strikes an appropriate balance for modern wrist preferences while the white gold construction reinforces the piece's positioning within the upper tier of German luxury watchmaking. Production numbers remain modest, ensuring the model maintains exclusivity without approaching the rarefied air of Lange's most complex annual releases.
I must admit when I first saw this post I wasn't fully awake and pre first cup of coffee and read it as " A. Lange & Sohne Lange" "One time zone" which really confused me. But as I am now fully alert I of course realise what I was doing wrong. I think my favourite would be the 25th Anniversary edition as I just love the blue on the dial. Marc
I also like the YG and RG, though. WG not as much (either of the two variants).
