The datograph was the first watch which made me realize that there is quality beyond PP. Always thought the watch is too big for me based on dimensions but tried it on recently and find it surprisingly wearable. A grail.
First held the Datograph in my hands when I visited Glashütte in 2000/2001. Dr Frank Müller graciously showed us around the Manufaktur and we met many of the watchmakers involved in the design and construction of the watch. Whilst I liked the traditional 39mm diameter and the “little village” 3D look of the movement,I found the watch too thick and the height to width ratio somewhat off. Doesn’t detract from this being a landmark chronograph movement though, a wake up call to the rest of the high
And like you've mentioned, a wake up call to the rest. Coincidentally, I saw the datograph up down in person recently for the first time. I really like the heft and the proportions. How do you feel it measures up to its predecessor?

The on/off indicator is silly and spoils the dial.
First saw the first datograph before I knew about lange. Was mesmerised.
