What did we got here?

Lets open it up.

There is something at the bottom.

Looks good.

Lets start with this one.

Manual, service book and a polishing cloth. As the manual says it's the 1815 inside the box.

The Lange & Söhne 1815 is a salute to the company founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange that was born this year.

The 1815 have the look of a classic Lange pocket watch.

The solid silver dial. Arabic numbers and railway minute scale. Blued hands will make a very good contrast.

Finally A Lange & Söhne just open my eyes with this new model of 1815 that was  released in 2009 is called

"Die große" (The big one) with it's 40 mm case instead of the 36,5 mm as the 1815 that was released in 1995.

This one is the WG model, Lange only made watches of  p recious metals.

The clasp is made of WG too.

The "manufaktur kaliber" (inhouse) L051.1 contains 188 parts and most of them is hand-decorated, I will say this is watchmaking artistry.

The three-quarter plate is something that A. Lange & Söhne introduced in 1864 and has since been a characteristic feature of watchmaking in Glashütte.

I happen to agree. I love my RG Lange 1815 Up & Down. It's my second. I made a deal with ThomasM years ago and traded him my first Up&Down.

My favorite piece from Lange! Yes, there are other pieces with tourbillons, chains and fusees. But this is a great great piece. It's elegant. It's not too thick. It's big and has presence. And a wonderful movement. A timeless classic dial that looks handsome and modern enough for today. What a great piece. I can't believe they discontinued it!

The watch is juxtaposed with other very industrial iron tools. It's almost an ironic composition of a supremely elegant and purposeful luxury product with tools of steel and iron - tools that make those beautiful coveted luxury products. The special ironic part is that the watch itself is also a tool. Gorgeous. Just gorgeous photos.

The first pictures (the smaller ones) are when I get the watch in 2014. The bigger pictures were taken later and hopefully show the development in my photography. 😂😂
