The watch might be very simple in some ways but itโ€™s exquisitely finished for the range and the German silver dial is always a source of joy.

And can well be dressed up or down depending on strap used.

Any other Laine fans out there?

About the Laine Silver Spur

The Laine Silver Spur represents a cornerstone in the collection of Finnish independent watchmaker Joonas Laine, embodying his commitment to traditional horological craftsmanship and distinctive aesthetic. Launched as a key offering, the Silver Spur quickly established itself as a signature piece, showcasing Laine's unique approach to dial design and finishing. It stands as a testament to the brand's philosophy of creating highly personalized and meticulously finished timepieces that resonate with collectors seeking individuality and artisanal quality outside of mainstream luxury brands.

Technically, the Silver Spur is characterized by its captivating dial, which features a granular, frosted texture that provides a subtle interplay of light and shadow. The dial is adorned with applied Arabic numerals at 12, 2, 4, 8, and 10 o'clock, complemented by delicate dot markers for the remaining hours. The blued steel hands, including the elegant hour, minute, and small seconds hands, offer excellent legibility against the taupe background. Powering the watch is a heavily modified manual-wind caliber, often based on a robust รฉbauche, which Laine meticulously disassembles, re-finishes, and re-assembles to haute horlogerie standards, though the movement itself is not visible in this image.

As an independent creation, the Laine Silver Spur appeals to a discerning segment of the watch collecting community. Its limited production numbers and the personal touch of Joonas Laine himself contribute to its collectibility and intrinsic value. The Silver Spur offers a compelling blend of classic design cues with a contemporary independent spirit, making it a coveted piece for those who appreciate bespoke finishing, unique aesthetics, and the narrative of a passionate artisan. Its market position is firmly rooted in the niche of high-end independent watchmaking, where craftsmanship and distinctiveness are paramount.

I don't own one

But I admire his work. And I also hear he's a great person. He's on my list if I ever go back to modern watches.
