One of the watches from the 2014 collection which belongs to the " variation category ".

Indeed, we cannot call the Master Grande Tradition Cylindric Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar a new Watch, but an evolution of the one we discovered last year for the Jubilé Collection.

Here is the link on the Master Grande Tradition Cylindric Tourbillon Calendrier Perpetuel Jubilé, for those who don't know this Watch, yet:

jlc.watchprosite.com

And a photo of the " Jubilé ":

Let's keep in mind the essential characteristics of the MGT CT PC:

- A Flying Tourbillon,

- With a cylindric spiral which you can only find on the Gyrotourbillon II and the Duometre à Spherotourbillon.

- And, of course, a Perpetual Calendar.

- A 42 mm case, 13, 1 mm high. It has to be reminded that this case is new, different from the Master Grande Tradition " first generation ", which was unveiled in 2009.

- The movement, the Cal 985, with its 22 Kt Rose Gold rotor, whose inspiration can be found in the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition ( the design of the medal, on the rotor )

Of course, the most evident change, from the Jubilé, is the rose gold case, but there are two more subtle différences:

- The rose gold indexes which are APPLIED, matching with the hour and minute hands.

- One more discrete detail, the moonphase hand.

A comparative photo, to help you to appreciate the difference between the 2 versions:

Warm, or cold understated elegance, it is up to you to choose!

Please keep in mind that these photos were taken in December 2013, which means that you are looking at the prototype, NOT the definitive Watch.

One last precision: This will not be a limited edition.

Looking forward to reading your thoughts and comments,

Best,

Nicolas. This message has been edited by amanico on 2014-02-10 02:07:42 This message has been edited by amanico on 2014-02-13 00:38:06

Lovely piece of horology, however not for me to wear....

I have tried the previous model in Singapore 2 years ago and didn't do it for me. Sorry. Cheers Francois from Down Under

I understand you.

I am not mad about Tourbillons, with some very rare exceptions, though. But it has some interesting features. I have other dream pièces, from JLC. Best, Nicolas

In agreement

First, as ever thank you for bringing another time piece closer. The dial and details are stunning, BUT why does JLC have to demonstrate it's a Tourbillon???? Besides its being an additional complication, isn't a Tourbillon for achieving the highest possible accuracy when measuring time!? Why not have it being visible through the back, only? For those who buy an Tourbillon are in the know and don't have to advertise it. It's like leaving one of the kissing buttons on a sleeve of a custom tailore

Maybe this is because of the cylindric spiral?

Which is not too often seen in a Tourbillon? Like you, I much prefer Tourbillons when they are on the back side, except when they are gyrotourbilloning. ;) Best, Nicolas

I prefer the duometre sphero

I was so fortunate that Stephane allowed me to wear his platinum sphero for a while during our dinner last year. The Jubilee of the Cylindric was also at the party. I shot wrist shots of both. Th Cylindric just did not do the same for me. I do like the details you mentioned of the applied indices. I think that makes a big difference. But alas, I just love the sphero, in platinum. I am in the minority, I do like a really great looking, elegant tourby, dial up. White metal. Best, Joe

Same preference, here. Because it is a Duometre, and because of the ballet of

The Tourbillon... +, it has this second time zone indication I love a lot! But I guess any ( other ) Duometre fan will feel the same! Best, my friend. Nicolas.
