Christianch's hands-on comparison of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire (Ref. Q604848J) and Duometre Chronograph Moon (Ref. Q622252J) offers invaluable insights for collectors considering these latest releases. His detailed observations on the updated savonette case and improved crown design highlight significant changes from previous Duometre iterations. This article synthesizes community perspectives on these models, providing a comprehensive guide for potential buyers.

Hi Everyone!

Today, I had the pleasure of visiting the JLC boutique and trying on two of the latest Duometre models: the Quantieme Lunaire (Ref. Q604848J) and the Chronograph Moon (Ref. Q622252J). After parting with my Unique Travel Time (which, though beautiful, felt a bit large and heavy for me), I promised myself I’d eventually add one of these incredible Duometre pieces to my collection.

Now, I know some purists on this forum have mixed feelings about these new releases (and yes, the price increase does seem steep!). However, I found the new savonette case design surprisingly well-executed, and the new crown design is a huge improvement. My Unique Travel Time had to go in for service because the crown was difficult to wind—even after it came back, it wasn’t nearly as smooth as the new models, which wind like a dream.

I think I have a favorite: the steel model. It’s lighter, less costly, and I prefer its complication. The only potential drawback I noticed was the Jumping Seconds complication, which runs constantly. I actually think it adds a unique touch, though I know some may prefer it only runs when the chronograph is engaged.

Which model would you choose and why? I’d love to hear your opinions!

Thanks,

Christian

Love the curves on the case vs older model

And you don’t usually see steel duometres around; most in gold.

Not a fan of the open dial "The Joker" look.

I prefer the closed vs. open dial, I like the color better and the overall look is more appealing to me. I also think it is more versatile.

I like the new case and crystal, don't like the new crown, seems cheapened compared to the old one, HATE that the chrono dials have a tachy scale that sacrificed the seconds track at 2 and 10. At least the steel blue dial is a complete and cohesive watch, the chronos feel compromised.
