Bimbeano's post offers a fascinating look into the world of affordable luxury cars, specifically the Jaguar X-Type. This article explores the nuances of acquiring a used X-Type in the UK, highlighting its perceived value and the unique challenges and joys of car ownership across borders. It provides a valuable perspective for enthusiasts considering budget-friendly options in the luxury automotive market.

... now i might be a bit to enthusiastic, the X-type isn't exactly a true Jag !

Based on the Ford Mondeo a lot of people simply call it a Ford as i already experienced smile .... 'hey, that's a nice Mondeo you're driving' ... shouted out a bit louder then usual so most people around can hear it ... . This ignorance (and human stupidity actually is very convenient to me as prices of second hand X-types are pretty low.
You can fetch a very nice low mileage V6 2500 or 3000 cc for around 3000 Pounds .... .
When you look at the car it looks a bit tiny but yet very elegant; now i'm a huge fan of small cars and i do like the classic Jaguar-design ... and my wife wanted an automatic ... okay, now we're talking !! Off to the UK once again !

A first glance at the silver métallic JAG smile gave me a very confident feeling about this car ... the chassis is indeed Ford Mondeo ... which means it will actually drive very well ... there is a V6 with around 200 hp under the bonnet, the paintwork is high quality ... and the interior is superb for a car priced as low as 3 grand smile . A test-drive convinced me in buying it ... what's there to loose ? Not much ... What's there to win? Quite a lot i would say, if this car turns out to be reliable and my wife likes to drive it, this will turn out to be the best bargain ... a fifty quid car i would say smile ... .

So the story began a few weeks ago ...

automotive.watchprosite.com

My good friend needed a "new" 1983 Daimler Double Six which we acquired in the UK.

We had some thoughts about the best cheap car money would buy and a few weeks later we went back ... to get my wife's dream car smile ... almost.

Checking in at the "Chunnel" already looked nice with this V10 8 litre in front of us.

Once in the UK it became obvious again what a car-nut country this is ...

First stop, pick up some parts for another Jaguar ... some nice cars here ...

Now this would certainly be my dream-Jag !

But we had to settle for this little car ... not complaining though ... .

Everywhere you go ...

... everywhere you look ... you see beauty ...

Once back ... wifey was happy ...

End of story ? No, not really ....

Last friday we were out again in search for a 3 litre for my good friend .... will we find a bargain ?
Once off the shuttle-train we had to do some fixing on the Clio smile

Time for tea .. and Starbucks !

Not my cup of tea !

We met some famous local Purists ...

... and stopped by at the Thruxton circuit.

Aventador ... right in your face ...

Hey !! That Tiff Needell ... you could hear him screaming the nuts out of that white M3 smile

Old glory ... Jason Plato's old Laguna BTCC racer .. well, part of it smile

Uuurgghh, am i dreaming ?

smile

After having tried a dreadful X-type (no pics) .. it was time to take some rest ... sort off ...

Agghh .. that sounds and looks like a 3 litre Scooby smile ... who can this be ?

Loch Fyne

May i present once again ... our own Graham who was so kind to invite us ...

Good start

Loads of choice !

Aaarghh, stunning Omega

No need to tell the food was delicious !

Great ambiance !

Graham loves fish !!! But who doesn't ? smile

He looks happier than the guys on his t-shirt smile

The day after it was time to continue the search ...

.. nope, a bit to extreme i guess smile

Yes ... hmmm, to expensive probably .

This one is the one ...

A nice low mileage three litre ... my friend was happy .. and what a bargain ... .

The taxi ... we drove 800+ miles in two days ... faultless ...

Some time left for a bit of sightseeing ...

Time to head home ...

Hey, a RS colleague !!! He looks a bit angry but as soon as he saw me taking the pic he got a BIG grin on his face smile

Long drive ...

... killing some time ...

... acting foolish ...

... at the "Chunnel"

... V6

... happy to go home ...

... still in the UK ? .... nooooo !!!

So this is how i came to this pic !!

Hope you enjoyed the post guys !

Actually, you know that I'm not a car specialist but I enjoyed to read your quest and to see some familiar faces! Of course, I'm still a bit surprised to see Tabasco with Oysters... they are really nuts on the other side of the Channel! Thanks again! Fx

We did not touch the tabasco :-) .... It would have been a real shame as the oysters were fabulous. Filip
