Alfihar, a seasoned collector, delves into the often-overlooked nuances of vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre warranty papers. His detailed photographic essay highlights the complexities of authenticating these documents, particularly the 'transitional' periods that challenge conventional wisdom regarding blue and brown warranty card eras. This exploration is crucial for collectors seeking to verify the provenance of their vintage JLC timepieces.

When it comes to watches in general—and Jaeger-LeCoultre in particular—many of us who pay close attention to detail have run into the issue of verifying authenticity papers.

It is generally accepted that blue warranties are from the 1960s..

and brown ones from the 1970s…

But as nothing is simple in the world of vintage watches… there are exceptions with blue warranties from the 1970s.

The concept of “transitional” doesn’t apply only to certain Rolex or Omega watches…

There are transitional JLC warranties as well.

How can you check the year? By zooming in on the photos of the back...

I’ll let you play around and look for them yourselves.

Have a lovely and pleasant day, everyone.

What’s the best place to acquire them?

The inventory is taking a while... it's a bit of a mess... stuff is scattered all over the place... Not to mention that some new scrap metal has arrived.

You can sometimes find them on eBay or other online marketplaces, or even at flea markets… but lately, the prices have (unfortunately) often been sky-high… Sometimes… you can score a good deal… but that’s becoming increasingly rare. It’s the same problem with vintage boxes… Best Ø
