Friends,
Several of you might remember my fondness of JLC
calendar offerings, from the more contemporary Master Moon to
the Reverso Duo Dates, and I am always enjoy looking on them.

Two all-time classics (1984)
We are aware that Calendars have been a JLC's important target,
a field where LGM traditionally has put some emphasis there.
Now, it's not only the contemps ones, but a whole series of
Duo/ Triple Calendars, dating back to the early 40 ies,
and these have being re-issued or re-discovered also in later years.
I have been fortunate and happy enough to own a very nice
Triple Calendar, ss with RG indices and hands, from around 1943.
WW II did not stop JLC to produce crisp & appealing design classics,
which some people calling it the very best in their whole series..
A special feature of those highlights of JLC design also can
be found in the shaping of cases and lugs, whereby the so called
"teardrop" lugs are real design delicacies for these specimens, IMHO.
They came in different metals: ss, EG, YG - total or in
combinations. Also the date wheels in the dedicated
windows came in a number of different languagues,
French, English, German, just to name a few.
Several here have shared their examples, some time ago
already ( Nico, Blomman, Clavi..).
While I have been owning a Triple Date, with a white/ silver
dial in ss/ RG Combo, another variant had been elusive so far:
First here my example of the TD, with Cal 464.
This is hand wound, which features a bimetallic compensation balance,
beating at 18000/h, a flat hairspring & a power reserve of about 50 hrs.
This watch is a very nicely balanced piece, with an
appealing presence on the wrist.

Further to that, I therefore thought to briefly share some recent
arrival of another specimen, which for me has rounded the theme.
This new acquisition was fostered more recently by the kind help
of a very good friend here. ( You know, who you are..).
When this good friend had decided to part from it, he had the
kindness to offer it to my stable, very much to my big pleasure..
Please find below, the new arrival of my now black-dialled TD version,
exhibiting some classic, but also very cool appeal:

Black beauty on the wrist..
This black version, has a strong character; but at the same time
lots of a charming, cool presence with its dial, also having a subsecond
@6, two windows for weekday & month, and the red-tipped arrow
for the circumferential running of the date. Two little push-spots
operate this date and the month, (weekday by hand).
Finally, let me share just some Duo shots,
where one can depict this great DNA and their black & white charm..
Black & White
Two close sisters
JLC TDs - a design marvel
Guess, I'll stop here: anyhow, these Vintage calendars
have their vivid & timeless spell..
Cheers & Best,
hs
