It seems that there is a strong link between the Polaris and me.

You certainly know that that some friends replaced the disappeared Tribute to Polaris 65, and found the Vintage Polaris 65.

The Tribute to Polaris 68 was still missing in my collection, which is not the case anymore, due to other friends.

So, now, the Polaris Family is complete!

Compared to my previous TT P 68, the dial is not the same.

On my former " 68 " the indexes wwere orange and luminous, while on this one, they are more cream, and not glowing.

Does it really matter? I don't think so.

What does matter is to see it back, as it was a watch I really loved a lot.

For its charm, its presence, its character.

Here are a few pictures to celebrate the return of the beloved daughteR.

Here on my favourite background, a sketch of the Polaris by Magali Metrailler, and dedicaced by her:

To know which of the Tribute to Polaris 65 or 68 is the most appealing was often discussed.

It is, of course, a very subjective topic.

Some will prefer the stronger look of the TTP 68, while others will fall for the ore discrete charm of the TTP 65.

The long absence of these 2 provided me the confirmation that I have no preference, here.

Each of them has its own character, plays its own register in a brilliant way.

My 2 former Tribute to Polaris had a great life, and some nice stories.

A story which will have to be re written, but let's say that the first pages of their life is a superb and moving start.

Best,

Nicolas

About the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Ref. Polaris1965

The Memovox Polaris 1965 is a notable early iteration of Jaeger-LeCoultre's alarm-equipped diver's watch. This reference is distinguished by its triple-crown configuration and internal rotating bezel, a design that set it apart from other alarm watches of its era. It represents a significant development in the Memovox line, moving towards a more robust and purpose-built aesthetic while retaining the signature mechanical alarm function. The Polaris 1965 is recognized for its specific case construction and dial layout that differentiate it from subsequent Polaris models.

This particular reference features a stainless steel case, typically measuring 42mm in diameter, which was substantial for its time. It houses a self-winding mechanical movement, specifically the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 825, known for its reliability and integrated alarm mechanism. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal, contributing to its vintage profile. The design prioritizes legibility and functionality, with a black dial providing contrast for the luminous markers and hands.

For collectors, the Memovox Polaris 1965 holds interest as an original example of the Polaris series. Its relatively limited production and distinctive design elements make it a sought-after piece. It appeals to those who appreciate the historical evolution of the Memovox line and the brand's early ventures into watches with enhanced water resistance and specialized functions. The Polaris 1965 is a foundational model within the broader Memovox family.

So, first thoughts? Size, volumes? Presence on the wrist?

You are used to bigger watches, so what are your feelings with this one? Best, Manu and thanks for your kind words. Nicolas

Funny....6 months ago I would have thought never under 45 mm....

But tu be honest, it hasn't bothered me one bit since I have had it. It is extremely comfortable. I love the tribute to the deep sea EU but not sure that one wouldn't be too small maybe I should try...the dial more than anything fascinates me...the strap much less so. And the ultimate judge in terms of bon gout is my wife and she thinks it is the most beautiful watch I have owned. So it has to be true ;)

If your wife says so! :) Absolutely agree on the strap.

But this detail won't bother you too much, as you may be used to play with straps! Best, Nicolas
