Amanico provides an early look at Jaeger-LeCoultre's 2019 collection from SIHH, setting the stage for in-depth coverage. This initial unveiling highlights key releases and sets expectations for what JLC enthusiasts can anticipate in the coming year. His post serves as a crucial first impression for the community.
As announced, this year won't be the year of the Duometre. We'll have to wait till 2020, most probably, to see something new in this line dear to many of us.
Still, there are some offers, this year, which are worth some serious consideration.
I will arrive at the SIHH on Tuesday late afternoon, so the first live pictures will come on Wednesday morning.
To help you to wait, I will show you what I have, in this quick introduction of the 2019 Collection.
The first watch of the 2019 collection has been unveiled in December, the Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel.
The movement is the Cal 925/2, automatic, offering a power reserve of 70 hours.
100 pieces, numbered 1 of 100.
The second watch is the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel, 40 mm big, 12, 13 mm high, in white gold. Limited to 50 pieces, numbered xx / 50.
The Cal 978, automatic, has a power reserve of 48 hours, displays the hours, the minutes, the seconds, and a date surrounding the tourbillon which has a new bridge.
Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Enamel: A white gold case, 39 mm big, 10, 44 high, water resistant to 50 meters.
The movement is the Calibre 868A/2, automatic, displaying the hours, minutes, seconds, day, date, month, years, and the moon phase. The power reserve is 70 hours.
A close up, to show the level of decoration and finishings...
Both versions are limited to 18 pieces.
I think you will have nothing against a video about that new masterpiece:
As for a more affordable novelty, we have the Reverso Tribute Small Seconds Burgundy Red. Exactly the same case than the Reverso Tribute Small Seconds Blue from past year ( 45, 6 x 27, 4 x 8, 5 mm ), same movement ( Cal 822/2 ), the only difference is a superb burgundy red dial.
Let's end with some offers for the ladies, with the Rendez-Vous Jewellery Night and Day and Moon Phase.
Both have the same case, 36 mm big, 9, 80 mm thick, in white gold or rose gold for the Night and Day, in white gold only for the moon phase. Both are 50 meters water resistant.
The dials are made of mother of pearl, with diamonds.
The Cal 898B/1 ( Night and Day ) and 925B/1 ( Moon Phase ) are both automatic, with an autonomy of 38 hours.
The Rendez-Vous Night and Day:
The Rendez-Vous Moon Phase:
This is all for the moment, but I may add one or two novelties during the fair, and some Iive pictures, so stay tuned!
Best,
Nicolas
Key Points from the Discussion
The Gyrotourbillon 5 is hailed as an incredible feat of micro-engineering and a potential new favorite JLC model, even surpassing previous Gyro models for some collectors.
There is a strong debate regarding the inclusion of the word "Automatique" on the dials, especially on enamel and tourbillon models, with many finding it unnecessary and detracting from the aesthetic.
The Hybris Mechanica is praised for its stunning perpetual calendar display, which is described as intuitive and easy to read, showcasing JLC's watchmaking prowess.
Collectors express anticipation for new Duomètre models in 2020, hoping for similar innovation in case design and complications as seen in the new Hybris Mechanica.
The blue enamel moon phase and Westminster models are admired for their beauty, but their high price points lead to wishes for steel versions to make them more accessible.
The new red Reverso is noted, with some collectors comparing it to previous versions and considering an upgrade, particularly if it includes a small seconds complication.

trust you're having a good time like kid in the candy store ;-) 1) Gyrotourbillon - the movement is phenomenal, breathtaking - Duometre movement looks like a child play in front of this ! it is what makes JLC a watch makers' watch maker !! As incredible this movement is, it is equally not for the mere mortals like us ;-) 2) Master perpetual - intelligent way to address the year window, at least meaning JLC is listening to the voices ! Still i don't understand the fact 'why' the interest to add '

I’ll take the Gyro 5 and the Rouge with small seconds please. But since the bank will veto the Gyro 5, the new Rouge becomes even more interesting: how does it compare to the Rouge we all love? Size? Hue of red? Not having a small second has always be my only (very small) issue with the Rouge. Should I upgrade? Thanks Nico for the report and looking forward to live pictures.

The Hybris Mechanica is simply stunning. To me, one of the best watches ever, the way the perpetual calendar information has been placed is fantastic, so intuitive and easy to read. And the movement, oh! the movement, que barbaridad! I LOVE it. Bravo, JLC. Vte
