The Grande Reverso Ultra Thin collection / family is still growing this year, with two models: The GRUT1931 in rose gold with a chocolate dial, I already posted, and the GRUT Night and Day I am introducing right now.

Ultra Thin... I would rather call it flat than Ultra Thin, as the Watch in question is 9, 14 mm high, so almost 2 mm more than a GRUT 1931 Black, Red or Silver ( 7, 2 mm ).

But, there is a but, or 2 Buts, by the way....

The first thing to precise is that the height includes the case AND the carriage, as we are speaking of a Reverso.

You will tell me- and you will be right- than ANY Reverso has a case and a carriage. But we are far from a round case, or a rectangular one WITHOUT carriage.

The second " BUT " is more important.

The movement ( Cal 967 B ) is automatic, which houses almost 100 more parts than the Cal 822 of the TT Reverso 1931 ( 128 parts ), and which is necessarily a bit thicker than a manual " engine ". It is 4, 05mm high, and offers 42 hours power reserve. Not a new movement, but a Calibre which used the Cal 960 base.

The main idea behind this Watch is to complete the collection AND to offer something more, for those for who an automatic movement is an important criteria of decision.

This Watch will allow you to know if it is 10 AM or 10 PM, with the subdial and the hand located at 6 o' clock.

You will not be disoriented with the decoration of the dial, with the GRUT Night and Day, which is familiar with what we are used to see.

Now, the eternal question is to know in which metal you prefer it: The cold, understated but very elegant stainless steel, or the warmer rose gold?

The stainless steel version:

...with a useful indication. I do prefer the old style day/night indicator with the revolving disk revealing either the stars or the sun motif. I think that is just a bit more charming execution, but this version is more elegant and discrete, perhaps. Are there any pictures of the movement inside? I know I have mentioned before the confusion I am having with the current Reverso collection. Beyond that, and you raised this question at the very start of your post, Nicolas, the term "ultra-thin" is

.. happy with my old, classical size Duo- Face, (for 2 timezones plus Night & Day) , my Reverso Grande GMT, plus the TTR 1931 - it's something I might consider, in SS, of course.. The way things are now, I am still in a waiting loop, without anxiety. - And if another Reverso, I would be looking either for a nice VIntage Center Second, or trying to find the discontinued Reverso Sun and Moon (Guess, was with the XT or Grande size) or .. Easy guess.. the Reverso Rouge. But that is like comparing ap

I do agree with that. And with the fact that even the TT Reverso 31 is not " more UT ", either. Flat would sound better. No pictures of the movement, nor of the case back, which is solid, in this case. Thanks for your feedback, my dear Respo. Nicolas

I don't think it is one for those who already own a TT R 1931. Best, my friend. Nicolas

Hi Have to say think the dials look fab - very Reverso. The pink gold model strikes me as having a very similar feeling to the the Art Deco GTof a while ago - even though I know there's no skeletonised movement. Think the solid back is good too. Cheers JML

and here's 2 IF's from me : 1. If it didn't look so much like my GT (which IMO with a manual movement is preferable) 2. I had larger wrists The grande reversos somehow has never sat well on my wrists. A beautiful watch though, although I think the word "automatique" would have been better left off the dial. Richard
