ED209 provides an exclusive look into the Jaeger-LeCoultre Beverly Hills Boutique event celebrating the launch of Mad Men Season 5 and the special Reverso Limited Edition. This report captures the excitement surrounding the collaboration between JLC and the critically acclaimed television series, highlighting the unique appeal of the Reverso Tribute to Mad Men.

This past weekend Team PuristSPro joined the staff at the Jaeger LeCoultre Beverly Hills Boutique along with Philippe Bonay ( Jaeger LeCoultre U.S. President) and Matt Weiner (creator and producer of the AMC series television show Mad Men) to celebrate the launch of Mad Men season five with the presentation of the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Limited Edition watch.

As many of you already know, Mad Men is a television show about 1960's era Advertising Men in New York City.  It has won critical acclaim including fifteen Emmys and four Golden Globe awards.  It is also the first television show in history to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series four years in a row.  And since the show's inception in 2007 it has influenced fashion and design from the 60's era.

I have to admit that I'm a fan of Mad Men and also a fan of Matt's work on one of my other favorite shows: the HBO series The Sopranos.  Matt was the writer and producer of the fifth and sixth season of The Sopranos.

So we arrived in the early afternoon and there was already a small crowd inside the boutique waiting for a glimpse of the Reverso.

Listening in on the conversation between Philippe and Matt we can hear the enthusiasm each had for both the show and the Reverso.

Philippe and Matt examine the engraving on the JLC Reverso 1931 Tribute to Mad Men:

The wonderful Jaeger LeCoultre Beverly Hills Boutique staff preparing for the event.  I noticed several Master complications in the display case including a JLC Master Minute Repeater and several Master Tourbillons.  A customer was examining the minute repeater and even with noise level from the crowd I was able to hear the chimes pretty clearly.

In the main area was a display dedicated to the Reverso 1931 Tribute to Mad Men.

Before the start of the presentation we had a chance to handle one of the few remaining pieces of the JLC Reverso 1931 Tribute to Mad Men.

The Jaeger LeCoultre Beverly Hills Boutique Manager shows a fellow PuristS the Mad Men LE watch and compares it with his own ultra thin Reverso Tribute to 1931:

The very lovely boutique staff modeling the JLC Reverso 1931 Tribute to Mad Men:

Let's take a closer look at the watch.  The dial side of the watch is the familiar JLC Reverso with sword shaped hour and minute hands.  The elegant layout has the simple and clean 'Reverso' logo near the 12 o'clock position.  The original Reverso Tribute to 1931 was available in either stainless steel or 18 carat rose gold.  The Mad Men Limited Edition is available only in stainless steel and in 25 pieces.

The case measures 46mm in length and 27.5mm in width and is a mere 7.2mm thin.  The movement is utilizes the manual wound JLC Caliber 822 ultra thin movement.  On the other side of the Reverso the solid steel caseback is lacquered engraved with the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce logo and the numbered edition of 25.

The watch will come with a polished walnut presentation box with the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce logo embossed on top along with a personalized commemorative letter from Roger Sterling and a copy of Roger Sterling's book 'Sterling's Gold' autographed by Matt Weiner.

Mr. Philippe Bonay mentioned at the beginning of the presentation that he thought that number 1 could only be worn by one person, and that it was an honor for him to present the number 1 of 25 of the JLC Reverso 1931 Tribute to Mad Men to the show creator and producer, Matt Weiner.

Here is Matt happily accepting the watch:

After the watch presentation, both Matt and Philippe entertained a few questions from the media including the following interview question with PuristSPro. PuristSPro : So why JaegerLeCoultre; What attracted you to the brand and what qualities do you associate with Mad Men? Matt Weiner : I have always been interested in this brand and believe it or not and ( gesturing to us also to Philippe Bonay ) I didn't tell you this but my Uncle worked for Bulova so we had a long connection with Caravelle a

And thanks for the nice post, my friend. As for the watch, it has been unveiled some weeks ago, with some good reactions. The 25 pieces will certainly sell fast. Best, Nicolas
