Arie - Mr Orange celebrates his 4,000th post by sharing an exclusive hands-on experience with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso à Eclipse Tribute to Vincent Van Gogh. His post details the collaboration between JLC and Gassan, highlighting the intricate enamel painting of Van Gogh's 'Self Portrait Of A Painter' on the Reverso's hidden dial. This rare piece showcases JLC's artistic craftsmanship and the unique Reverso à Eclipse mechanism.

As it's post #4.000 I'd better make it about something special. Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of being invited to a DIY course hosted by Jaeger-LeCoultre and Gassan.

The tinkering took place in the EYE museum in Amsterdam. Very interesting architectural building (Google it). After receiving my diploma, of shooting little screws through the room and loosing them in the process, we were invited to a dinner in the A'DAM Toren (restaurant on 19th floor with very nice view over Amsterdam).

And it was there where we were shown something quite rare and special. I even got to handle it although I got forced to wear gloves.

Gassan (boutique partner of Jaeger-LeCoultre) thought it would be interesting doing something with the Van Gogh Museum and JLC to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Vincent Van Gogh and the 85th anniversary of the Reverso. So they decided to do the 'Self Portrait Of A Painter' by enamel painting on a Reverso.

Platinum case.

4 pieces made (still some for sale).

Hand wound caliber 849 (only 1.85 mm thick).

It does give pleasure opening the 'curtains' of this little marvel.

Enamel painting. Not many brands will be able to pull this off.

All in all a very entertaining evening which was hosted perfectly by JLC and Gassan!
