Blomman Mr Blue shares a festive post featuring his Jaeger-LeCoultre Recital 130 from 1967, a unique 8-day power reserve clock with a 24-hour alarm. This piece highlights JLC's inventive spirit beyond wristwatches, offering a detailed look at the Recital movement's distinct alarm functions and day/night indicator.
Friends,
I have not been very active here in the JLC forum this year and I think you all know why….
But before the year ends I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
What could be more appropriate this time of the year than light a candle and send my best wishes?

Recital reference 130 from 1967.

The Recital 130 was one of many recital clocks offered by JLC during this period.

Significant for all the Recitals was the recital movement. 8 days power reserve and of course the recital 24-hours alarm. I.e. the alarm sounds once per every 24-hours, compared with the Memovox alarm which sounds every 12-hours.

Another feature on the Recital compared with the Memovox is that you could set the alarm on/off on the Recital while on the Memovox, only way to stop the alarm would be not to wind the alarm barrel or pull the crown when the alarm goes off.

The alarm is displayed as a window shown at 12. In the center around the hands axis is a day/night indicator. Hard to see in this shot, it is a disk, half white and half black, important since you set the alarm 24-hours and not 12 as on classic alarm clocks.
On the back you see the alarm no/off to the left. At the top you have the winding “crown”, one direction to wind the movement, the other direction to wind the alarm. Center you set the time and right, set the alarm.

I find it very “JLC” to make something like this! Beautiful, functional, fun, but totally out of place!
The most famous Recital is the Street lamp. Funny note, here JLC must have mixed and show the 12-hours alarm version (not Recital) in the Recital catalog!

So let me light a candle and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Oh, I almost forgot, before I end – “Wrist shot”!

Best wishes
Blomman
