Baron - Mr Red celebrates his 1965th forum post by initiating a 'Roll Call' for owners of the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris 65 and 68. His post highlights his personal history with these vintage dive watches, including owning original models and the Paris Boutique Tribute to 65, underscoring their enduring appeal and significance within the collector community.
What better way to celebrate my 1965th post than to start a thread about the Polaris 65! I have been lucky. I have owned an original 65, an original 68 and also this Paris Boutique Tribute to 65. I have also been fortunate insofar as the two originals that I have owned have both found their true homes with good friends….and it is wonderful to know how much those two watches are now loved. For me, I will remain with my Paris Boutique Tribute to 65….a watch with impeccable breeding and so much personality. So, being born in 1965, 1965th post and about the Polaris 65…… a good sort of symmetry there.
It is always with great trepidation that one starts a bush fire…. But, here goes…..
Roll Call – Polaris 65 or 68 in any way you like it!!!

The Memovox Polaris 1965 is a notable early iteration of Jaeger-LeCoultre's alarm-equipped diver's watch. This reference is distinguished by its triple-crown configuration and internal rotating bezel, a design that set it apart from other alarm watches of its era. It represents a significant development in the Memovox line, moving towards a more robust and purpose-built aesthetic while retaining the signature mechanical alarm function. The Polaris 1965 is recognized for its specific case construction and dial layout that differentiate it from subsequent Polaris models.
This particular reference features a stainless steel case, typically measuring 42mm in diameter, which was substantial for its time. It houses a self-winding mechanical movement, specifically the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 825, known for its reliability and integrated alarm mechanism. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal, contributing to its vintage profile. The design prioritizes legibility and functionality, with a black dial providing contrast for the luminous markers and hands.
For collectors, the Memovox Polaris 1965 holds interest as an original example of the Polaris series. Its relatively limited production and distinctive design elements make it a sought-after piece. It appeals to those who appreciate the historical evolution of the Memovox line and the brand's early ventures into watches with enhanced water resistance and specialized functions. The Polaris 1965 is a foundational model within the broader Memovox family.
And congratulations on your 1965th post, Baron.

I don't think we are many to own the 2 Tributes and the 2 originals... Well, we could also add the Polaris IIs, but I will do a post on that matter... ;) Best, Nicolas
if anybody have them all? The Polaris II - another story... One I haven't really started yet. Please bring yours next time - I would like to have a closer look! Best Blomman
If all is: Lecoultre and JLC versions, well, I think nobody has them. Now if all doesn't include the JLC or Lecoultre, but the Pola IIs, well, I am not that far... I only miss the Red Pola II. ;) Yes, i will bring mines, no worries. ;) Best, Nicolas
