Amanico proposes an exciting concept for a potential PuristS' watch: a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin 39 with a black dial. He outlines specific design modifications, such as leaf hands and a steel case, aiming to create a unique yet accessible timepiece for the community, sparking a lively discussion among collectors.

No pressure, here, at we have to think about everything, but I have an idea I want to submit to you before deciding anything.

Here is the MUT 39 Jubilée, unveiled in 2013, and the rose gold version, which came just after.

Let's keep the case, which is spectacular in 39 mm with this very thin profile, " couteau shaped ", 4, 05 mm high, its movement, the Cal 849 which is a superb manual winding movement.

Now, let's work on three options: First, the hands, leaf shaped ala MUT 39 Enamel Grand Feu...Instead of the Dauphine hands.

Second, let's change the color of the dial and let's opt for a black one.

Third, an option: Solid case back, or see through? The solid case back will help to keep the ultra thin height. With a see through case back, we'll probably have a 1 mm thicker case.

No black enamel, even if it would be a dream, but the idea is to maintain the cost below 10 K Euros, to allow most of us to get one.

Steel case, for the same reason.

Special engraving on the case back?

What do you think?

Would you be in?

Once again, it is just to test the waters, before deciding anything.

Because I have one or two other Jaeger Lecoultre suggestions, in my tortured mind... wink

Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,

Best.

Nicolas

caliber 849 needs to be back in non precious metal. The smaller diameter cases were perfect as its meant the movement filled out the space. As you probably already own(ed) that, you are trading off ultra thin in exchange for solid back. For me its got to be open back cause its a shame JLC dont illustrate its execution prowess in simpler pieces.

Because I own the rose gold version, but I’d definitely keep the hands. They give the watch an Art Deco vibe.

1/ Love the idea, ss of course. 2/ Leaf hands are very much ok ( Maybe still a tiny little lume ?) 3/ Keep thin case=>> ie. obviously solid caseback; special engraving would be quite nice.. (IMO: Seethrough not that important, unless manual movement comes with very nice finish) 4/ Under 10k important ! 5/ When could such a project materialize (?) - still for 2019.. Thx for asking ! Best, hs
