I would say... Yes.

Here is the beauty, which was limited to 880 pieces.

39 mm platinum case. Superb grained dial. The case and the dial are new, not the movement, which is the same than the one housed in the previous Master Ultra Thin manual winding 34 and 38 mm.

Good point, as the watches from the 2008 Jubilé were evolutions of the existing collection.

The dial is a model of understatement and class, in my opinion and according to my own tastes. I like the long and thin hour makers a lot, and the contrast with the minute dots is top class, too.

A dial which makes me think of a watch which was unveiled in 1957, the ref 2233:

The inspiration is obvious, don't you think? Even the integration of the crown to the case is close!

Ok, I would have preferred the leaf hands of the enamel version, but these Dauphine hands are not a no go, and the watch was a bargain, at the retail.

BUT what makes a huge difference, and, once again, in my opinion, the biggest asset of this watch is... Its case.

Look at this profile!

Even better here:

4, 05 mm is not the thinnest case, as if I remember well, the title of the thinnest watch belongs to another JLC, the MUT Skeleton Enamel Blue ( 3, 6 mm! ) and some pocket watches from Lecoultre at the beginning of the 20th Century were even much thinner, but still, this profile is impressive.

The Jubilé has the good idea to have a solid case back. Not that the Cal 849 is ugly, but too small for a 39 mm case ( 20, 9 mm only, for 1, 85 mm high ). So, it is smart to opt for a solid case back, here.

These are all the reasons which lead me to think that yes, indeed, this Master Ultra Thin 39 platinum is the best JLC Jubilé watch since... The Geophysic, unveiled for the 1958 Jubilé.

What do you think?

Best,

Nicolas

That is one to consider in a JLC collection, I think. [nt]

The MUTs generally are special

Especially like the very simple 34mm version, very appropriately sized for the purpose. But the thinness of the jubilee and its dial are definitely a success

The 34, so the original, is a great choice. Not a small, but a wonderful watch. [nt]

I find I can pull off a 34mm very well

And as more muscular men managed to make 34mm watches appear good for decades...

You will not have problems finding yours, as there was a quite wide choice of dials and cases. [nt]
