Friends,

Not much posting from my side here in the JLC forum lately… GP keeping me busy…

But last weekend the weather was very nice and I decided to give some fresh air to one of my E 855 that hasn’t seen the light of day in a long time…

Yes I know, shame on me – but sometimes your wrist time is not enough to rotate all your watches.

Anyway, I took my family for a walk and we found a nice area to take some shots!

smile

Even if in Sweden, you get a “Joshua tree” feeling…

This “short index” dial version is quite interesting and not that common. If I understand correctly, this dial was used in the end 1960’s/beginning 1970’s and only for a couple of years.

JLC catalog 1970:

The outer dial more white with the short almost square indexes. The inner dial/alarm disk in silver.

And the well-deserved wrist shot!

E 855 is a watch that I am surprised it doesn’t get more attention from the JLC community.

A true JLC classic!

Best

Blomman

About the Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Ref. MemovoxE855

The Memovox E855 is a notable iteration within the Memovox family, recognized for its alarm complication and often associated with designs from the 1970s. This reference represents a period when Jaeger LeCoultre explored various aesthetic expressions for its alarm watches, appealing to collectors interested in the brand's mid-century output. It stands as an example of the Memovox's enduring appeal as a functional and distinctive timepiece.

This reference typically features a case, often in stainless steel, housing an automatic movement. The specific caliber, such as the K825 or 825, is known for its dual-crown system, one for time setting and winding, and the other for setting and winding the alarm function. The case diameter is commonly around 37mm, and it is fitted with a crystal, often acrylic, protecting a dial that frequently includes a rotating inner disc for the alarm setting.

For collectors, the Memovox E855 is valued for its mechanical alarm complication and its place in the lineage of Jaeger LeCoultre's alarm watches. Its variations in dial design and case materials offer diversity for those assembling a collection of Memovox models. The E855 appeals to enthusiasts who appreciate the brand's technical innovations and the distinct character of its alarm timepieces from this era.

Well Blomman, I would be glad to take this one off your hands

but, I know nothing leaves your stable! :-) I would love this one with the Speedbeat mate with the blue center. Glad it was a nice day to "air" this baby out! Best Joe

Just a kind remark.. To comment the difference between the 855 and the Speedbeat blue center/ white 2-tone..

In fact, as well Blomman\'s "short index" version, as my own, longer index- "Ebony"- version are E855. These 855s, were / are carrying the Caliber 825 with Date; (815 had been without Date) and with an autonomy of 18000/ hr. The "Speedbeat" 2-tone you were referring is E 875, and there also were all white, Blue center/white and all blue versions, just mentioning for completeness.. Herefore, the Caliber used was the K 916, with 28800 verberations (AFAIK) - thus the name "speedbeat".. Pls find her

HS, I am greedy

I wanted one 855, as Blomman's, and one 875 with the blue center, like yours! i like that the 875 moves the JL logo to the 9 position. Cool. That is why I would like a copy of both. Finding them in pristine condition is so difficult. So now, I have to negotiate with two Purists! :-) Best Joe
