Amanico brings to light the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Jubilée, a platinum timepiece from 2013 that, despite its remarkable thinness and elegant design, seems to have slipped under the radar. He prompts the community to reconsider this watch's place among modern horological stars, highlighting its breathtaking profile and the substantial feel of its platinum case.

In 2013, Jaeger-Lecoultre unveiled a spectacular watch, the Master Ultra Thin Jubilée in a 39 mm platinum case, whose thinness was remarkable with a height of only 4, 05 mm, which is 0, 15 mm thinner than the Master Ultra Thin 34.

How can it be spectacular?

If I show you these 2 pictures, you will tell me that it is understated, hyper sober, austere, for some of us, serious... But spectacular?

The case back is not spectacular, as well. It has the good taste to not show the movement, the Cal 849, which is totally lost in such a " big " case.

But now, if I show you this picture...

Now we can say it is spectacular.

This profile is just breathtaking.

And the density of the platinum gives some pleasant consistence to the case.

To me, this " MUT 39 Jubilée " is one of the stars of our modern times. Surprisingly, we don't often discuss it. Forgotten?

Best,

Nicolas

Which is a shame in my opinion but also a generation thing I appears. My dad always told me that a sophisticated watch is a small and thin one - also more complicated to make I guess. Having a small wrist myself I have a huge preference for smaller and thinner watches as these are the only ones fitting me anyway...so back to the MUT jubilee I did see that one as a stunning piece and is remarkably made, simple enough but amazing when you look from a side view. Again a shame these types of watches

I think the problem is not with the model that is gorgeous but with the brand. Unfortunately JLC fails to score hype points. The same picture remains with duometers and their other magnificent watches. As for 1907... One of the problems is that the movement is much smaller than the case. Apart from that this is a beautiful timepiece and quite a bargain (retail less than 14k). I would personally love to have one. Or any other JLC with caliber 849.

Not as thin as 4 mm but still thin and small enough compared to other names. Kev

As others have said - thinness is a complication too. Of the series I have a particular liking for the 34mm. Probably most to do with when I first got to appreciate JLC. Cheers JML

I absolutely dont't understand why JLC neglects the marvelous calibre 849. In the product range of JLC on their website you justfind one watch (!) anymore with a squelette-version of caliber 849. For me this is nearly a shame, because JLC has been a specialist for ultra thin movementes since decades an there is no other movement in production now, that is really as thin as calibre 849. I own a MUT 34mm in steel and each time I wear it (mostly for formal occacions) I am happy and proud to own it.
