Nicolas (amanico) brings to light the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin 1833 in Rose Gold, a limited edition from 2008 that often gets overshadowed by its successors. His insightful post prompts a discussion on its unique position within the MUT lineage, inviting collectors to revisit its distinctive charm and design elements. This article explores why this particular reference, with its chocolate dial and 38mm case, remains a compelling subject for enthusiasts of ultra-thin horology.

Issued in 2008 for the 175th La Grande Maison's Anniversary, the Master Ultra Thin ( MUT ) came with a new case, which was 4 mm bigger than the former one ( 38 mm versus 34 mm ), and 6, 31 mm thick. The movement is the same, the famous and highly appreciated Cal 849.

The rose gold case and chocolate dial offers a superb chromatic combination to this watch, which was made in a limited edition of 575 pieces.

This MUT 1833 is in between the 34 mm and the other Jubilée which came in 2013 with an awesome 39 mm platinum ultra thin case ( 4, 05 mm ).

Maybe this is this last one which killed the 1833?

Best,

Nicolas

But I'm a longtime fan of the regular steel version of this watch. It's actually my favorite of JLC's *genuine* ultra-thin watches. I love the more lively dial with the applied arabics and the little balls for minute markers.

I had the MUT in 34mm, with rose gold case and black dial. This one with the chocolate dial is even more appealing but anyway I think you can’t go wrong with any MUT. Glad you show this beauty and the photos are really nice.

But I think the stainless steel MUT 34mm looks better to me.

The 38 is a nice generous size. Some purists will say the movement is a little small for the watch. And they're right! But the proportions of the case and dial just look so darn good in my eyes. Even better proportions than the 34 in my eyes. I've got the platinum 2013 anniversary one as well. But I never use that one. As I like the 38 so much more because the crown on the platinum one is too tiny. This rose gold model looks like it has got a crown that can be worked with. So I bet I'd like this

the Deep sea tribute memovox (US and EU), many geophysic, some classical case looking memovox, older reverso with the blue dial and the numerals, and i am sure i am missing many of them. Most of the vintage JLC you are posting i find attractive...

But I only have the 38, and I'm tres content with what I've got! Something about the dial and the proportions just look so good to me. I like the MUT38 in steel even more than the 2013 Platinum Jubilee model and even the Vacheron Constantin model. Who knew...
