While paying a quick visit at the JLC Paris Boutique, I notice something in the window...

Something which looked familiar, but with some subtle changes.

If you're used to frequent the PPRO JLC Forum, you can't ignore the Master Minute Repeater in titanium, which is, in my opinion, one of the most impressive modern watch displaying this complication, almost a concept watch.

Since its birth, this MMR received different aesthetical evolutions, which can be summed in two categories: Open

( Titanium and rose gold ) or semi open dial ( Platinum )

The platinum MMR ( 2005 ) :

Let's focus on the MMR which came with the open dial.

We had the titanium, in 2006, followed, in 2007 ( If I'm not wrong ... ) by the Sincere LE ( the same open dial than on the Ti MMR, but with a platinum case, and released in a batch of 10 pieces ), then, in 2008, by the Rose Gold " 1833 " MMR ( 175 pieces ), and that was all, since 2010...

The Beautiful striking Duo:

In 2010, JLC decided to release a new MMR, or, to say it better, and to be more precise, a MMR which would be located somewhere between the rose gold and the titanium version, for the fans of the open dial:

The MMR ... In white gold!

You still have the ruthenium coated nickel silver finished plates and bridges, and the heated blue screws, in this spectacular presentation.

But, you may prefer a denser case than the titanium one, without having to go for / on the rose gold version.

You may also want some contrast on the titanium dial, for some aesthetic reasons, but also to improve the legibility, if you feel that legibility is a problem on the Titanium.

So, it may well be THE MMR you were waiting for...

The applied numbers and indexes are still in gold, like on the titanium, but in rose gold.

A slight touch of contrast and warmth, which will not make me prefer this one over my Titanium, though, but, as previously said, it is very subjective.

Due to this detail, only the connoisseurs will know that you have a special MMR on the wrist, but isn't every MMR special ?

The dimensions are the same ( 44 mm big / 15, 8 mm thick ), and the watch is, like the former pieces, water resistant to 50 meters.

The other difference is the metal of the case.

The Titanium let its place for a less technical but more precious metal.

Aesthetically speaking, not a big difference, except, maybe, the fact that the white gold is a bit brighter than the titanium, but you have to pay a lot of attention to notice this detail.

The big change is the weight... With the white gold case, you almost reach the heft of the platinum version.

It is like the day and the night, compared to the titanium, as you almost don't feel this last one, once on your wrist.

Here again, it is a matter of personal taste.

The case back is identical to the Titanium with ruthenium coated nickel silver mainplate and bridges of the Cal 947, which has a stunning autonomy of 15 days, in addition to the minute repeater and to an unusual torquemeter, which allows you that, during this long power reserve, the watch is working with regularity.

The White Gold version displays the same powerful chime, with a sound which is over 60 Decibels, and the difference in quality is nearly impossible to notice, I would say a bit rounder, maybe, a tad less " reverberated "... Dififcult to put in word and to notice.

I still have to say, to be complete, that this latest version is limited to 30 pieces.

Looking forward to reading your comments,

Best.

Nicolas.

I will write about this watch... one day, I hope before the end of the year! It is maybe my fav JLC. I love its design and the way it strikes. I didn't have the chance to listen at the same time the Titanium and the WG versions but my point of view would be that the sound power is better with the Titanium version and that the WG vibrates less. But that's pure hypothesis from me. I still think that WG is an excellent material for a striking watch. So I find this LE logical. There is something spe

The place was quiet enough to record it... Of course, we set the time to enjoy a long hammers play: Fr.Xavier

And if can make a clear difference between the Ti and the Platinum, it is much more difficult between the Ti and the Gold ( RG or WG ) MMRs... One thing is sure, the open dial configuration is by far my favourite. It gives the watch a spectacular modern look to the watch. Something quite unique in the modern production, for such a classic complication. Clearly, my favourite ( in Titanium, though ) with the Duometre and the Gyro I, among the modern JLC watches. Best, and thanks for your input. Ni

Especially on the first note of the quarters... I heard much better, even if it bis difficult to judge from a soundfile. Thanks for the show! Nicolas.

.. having seen the Titanium plus even the luxury to feel it on the wrist AND also to hear it (!), plus to get lost in the compelling open dial.. ( thanks to a gracious Dark Lord, as you may remember) - I have to say the Titanium version would still be my first pick, if I were to chose.. ( .. Out of range, however) But since this is the case, I'll happily admire this again captivating member; the red gold indices have their warm attraction, playing vs the fascination of the open view inside.. Thx
