Donizetti's acquisition of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Minute Repeater Titanium offers a compelling look into a highly technical and aesthetically unique timepiece. His detailed account, enriched by personal experience and high-quality photography, highlights the watch's distinctive dial, powerful acoustics, and iconoclastic appeal. This article explores why this reference stands out even among haute horlogerie's most complex creations.

Dear all,

I am very happy to finally have this in the collection. This has been a tortuous road (needed to return a previous example for mechanical problems) but it is done now.

Nicholas has posted often about this watch (and fueled my interest!), and I do not have a lot to add. The two things that make this watch stand out in my view are the dial and the function. The effect of the dial is hard to capture. I do not care for any of the other (cutout) dials of this series but on the TItnanium open version it comes together wonderfully. In effect (not in style) it is a bit like a Datograph movement - it draws you in and and keeps you engaged for a long time with a very strong 3d "city under glass" effect that I find very appealing. I also appreciate the cool (if not strictly speaking very useful) 15 day power reserve and torque indicators. Together it still has a somewhat iconoclastic appeal, much more like an independent "superwatch" than something from a big established maison. Kudos to JLC for being so daring.

The other awesome aspect is the function of course. This watch is easily twice as loud as the other repeaters I own. The sound transmission through the glass and the titanium give it a overtone-rich crystalline sound. And watching the mechanical ballet happen is awesome. Below is a video, don't forget to turn the sound on if you click on it!

For the extremely long power reserve and two big barrels the watch winds surprisingly smoothly. Actuating the repeater does take some firm pushing on the other hand.

The case is very shiny and in proportion more like the master compressor cases of ten years ago. It is very easy to wear because of titanium's lightness and conductivity. I like it but your MMV. I also do not care for the laser engraved writing on the movement although I do like the decoration otherwise.

The watch comes on a very nice grey alligator but for now I have switched it to a grey nubuk strap to bring out it's edgy nature a bit more. I hope you like the look!

best
Andreas

As for the sound, it is really good. In my collection for some 13 years, now, and here to stay. Enjoy, my friend. Nicolas

I’ve been lucky to play with Nicos a couple of times. As you say, the sound and the dial are fantastic. Also the ruthinium coating of the movement is superb. It’s on the thick side for my taste but the complication makes that more easy to forgive.

One of these days I will also need to join you and Nico with this model as I believe it is the best value in a all of haute horlogerie for a MR. 💥🔥💪

...but my hearing has gotten so bad over the past few years that the main attraction is wasted on me : (
