In 2013, for the Jubilé year, Jaeger Lecoultre launched the MGT Tourbillon Cylindrique Quantième Perpetuel.

In 2014, JLC released the rose gold version.

And this year, it is the turn of the white gold version.

The main characterisitcs of this Watch are:

- A case which is 42 mm big, 13, 1 mm high.

- Welded lugs.

- Concave bezel.

- Flying Tourbillon, with cylindrical hairspring.

- Titanium Grade 5 Tourbillon Cage.

- 14 Ct Gold balance Wheel

- 22 Ct Gold Rotor, showing the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition Gold medal.

- The Cal 985 is automatic, made of 431 parts, beating at 28 800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of 48 hours. This movement is 30, 7 mm big, 8, 15 mm high.

So, the major changes are the metal of the case, and the dial, on the 2015 edition.

The difference between the platinum and the white gold case are almost imperceptible. I expected the platinum to be heavier, it is not that evident, when you handle both of them.

No, the main differences are related to the dial.

The grained blue dial explodes, and the chromatic contrast with the case is very pleasing.

The moonphase subdial is made of lapis lazuli, which is a semi precious gem.

On the picture posted above, you will also notice that the dauphine hands receive a double treatment.

Another difference, quite subtle, the addition of a zodiacal calendar located in the subdial dedicated to the months.

A blue dial is always hard to resist....

But on a classic, traditional looking watch like this my choice would be the white dial. Harder choice for me would be between the white or the rose gold case.... Best Blomman

Hi Nicolas, By now, I think you know which would be my choice ;-) This is a wonderful photo essay, and it does justice to the nuance of the grained texture of the dial. For all the effort JLC put into the press photos, there's a sterility to them that your warm imagery overcomes. Not only have you done justice to the dial and the fashion in which it scatters light, but the nuance of the white gold case finish is expressed to a degree I have not experienced in other images released thus far. My feelings...

Yes, it seems that JLC favors a functional " finish ", which I'd call decoration, rather than finish. In the vein of the Master Tourbillon, indeed, while I would have expected something more from a piece of that price. As for a new Watch compared to a variant, well, we can endlessly discuss that. For me, a new Watch is at least a new movement, a new case, and a new dial. Here, you have some différences in the dial, but is this enough to call it a new Watch? Not in my opinion. Quite possibly...

Indeed, I'm very fond of this watch, and my hope is to see it (and wear it) in the metal before making a decision. While I was fortunate to see virtually all of JLC's SIHH debutantes in Miami about a month ago, the TCQP Blue wasn't among them. But I do know that it's making the rounds at the worldwide factory boutiques, and I look forward to the Blue's visit to Miami. Then I can make the final call.
