Amanico revisits the 2015 Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication, offering updated insights after a visit to the 'Specialités Horlogères.' He highlights key improvements, particularly in the case design and the minute repeater's acoustic quality, making this complex timepiece even more compelling.
I already wrote a presentation article on that Watch, at the beginning of this year.
But a visit at the Specialités Horlogères is always a good opportunity to see and re see some holy monsters. Even more when you meet Christian Laurent, the Watchmaker who works here.
Let's recall that the three most important changes, on the 2015 MGT MC are:
-> The reworked case, which was, in my opinion, the weakest part of this Watch.
-> The smooth blue dial. Quite fascinating, though.
-> The sound of the minute repeater has totally been revisited. Before, it was loud, but th pitch was a bit just for a minute repeater of that level. Now, it is even louder, but richer, too.
And let me tell you that it makes a big difference. I strongly invite to to ask to JLC to let you hear this Watch. It is a feast.
One anecdote. Christian Laurent knows that I cannot resist to listening to Minute Repeaters. Each time, he gives me the opportunity to test some of them.
This time was no exception but in a funny way. He made me listen to the one pictured below, and asked me: " What's the problem? ".
The hours played loud, as expected, but too short. While the quarters and the minutes were perfect.
He confessed me that this one was to be re setted, indeed, because of this issue.
Enough words, place to two pictures:
The whole Watch:
And its movement, the Cal 945. I never had the opportunity to take good pictures of it, it is now done!
I quite like the decoration of this Calibre, to tell the truth. It is of my favourite from the current production.
