Blomman Mr Blue shares his impressions of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grand Memovox, a complicated modern Memovox featuring a Perpetual Calendar, Moon Phases, and a unique alarm with sound or vibration modes. He reflects on its charm years after its release, despite its busy dial and 43mm size.

Friends,

One of the more complicated modern Memovox’s is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grand Memovox.

Perpetual Calendar with Moon Phases and Alarm.

The alarm is not the regular 12 hours ringing alarm, but there is an extra feature where you can choose if the Memovox should do sound or vibration.

Love the concept, it’s not always you want the alarm to sound and disturb a meeting or wake up a sleeping baby…

Or even worse – you are a Navy Seal on a mission behind enemy lines and the Memovox rings!

I never reached the Master Grand Memovox during my crazy Memovox years…

Not sure if it was due to the Perpetual Calendar which makes the dial quite busy…

Or if it was for the size, 43 mm in diameter and rather thick.

But looking at it now, many years later, I find it very charming!

The Master Grand Memovox was in the period when JLC used the “Gold Medallion” on the back of the Master line.

A very nice detail I wish to see from Le Grand Maison again!

Thank you to the owner for letting me play with this lovely watch!

Best

Blomman

Nevertheless, I tried and wore this timepiece several times and it didn\'t fit me very well. Too big and not really confortable on my wrist unfortunately. Anyway, I love this watch even if I will never own one. Thank you for this reminder. Best wishes Alkiro

Yes, more modern looking, and the option of the vibration was very interesting. I would like to see something new, though. Best, Nicolas

I had a chance to handle and wear a platinum version of this watch from the earliest phases of production in 2005. Back then, the model was still in its launch phase, and a 100-piece platinum edition was created to effect a halo around the entire model line of gold and steel variants. The sheer mass of that platinum Grand Reveil - all in platinum with solid caseback -was awesome, and it was compounded by the fact that during 2005, the launch year for this model, JLC still equipped its platinum w

So it was a real treat to see it in Vienna! Thanks to the owner for bringing it along Sadly my wrist is a bit to chicken leg for it - so it will continue to be a platonic affair, at least until I start hitting the gym on a regular basis
