Emil Wojcik's reflection on his Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Date offers a compelling look into the unexpected daily wearability of a classic timepiece. His experience highlights how comfort, aesthetic appeal, and practical features like a metal bracelet can elevate a watch from a collection piece to an indispensable daily companion, even for a seasoned collector known for frequent watch changes. This article delves into the nuances that make certain watches resonate deeply with their owners, prompting extended wrist time.

And the two days I chose to wear something else--my AP one day, the JD another-- I did so out of guilt for neglecting my other watches. So I guess I must really like it.

A combination of loving the vintage look, being very comfortable, and the metal bracelet being ideal for the hot, humid weather of this spring and summer have contributed equally to this abnormally long wrist time--I've been known before this to change watches two to three times a day.

I'm sure I'll go back to my normal wearing habits soon but in the meantime I'm just really enjoying this.

I know of which you speak.

When I find a watch that truly serves my purpose, I wear it incessantly. I had a Patek Philippe 3940 that I wore nearly every day for over a decade. That watch was worn by me all over the World in all kinds of weather. I would be wearing it still except that it became too difficult for me to read. Now I am onto a Patek Philippe 5320. Itโ€™s easier for me to read, but I still miss my 3940. Been wearing a Patek Philippe 3970 a lot lately. There is something very โ€œUnder the Radarโ€ about the 3940 that

I still have the two-tone DateJust that I wore every day for years back in the '80s-'90s when it was my only watch. Also still have my Navitimer, another watch I wore for a couple years straight.

But that was back before I would say I was a collector, just wore a watch to tell time. Although I did collect vintage pieces before that but eventually sold them all before starting to collect again the early 2000s. At this point in my life I prefer under the radar, which is why my Rolexes hardly see wrist time these days. Thanks for your response.

I feel the same about the 3940/3970

Their modest dimensions make them very nice daily watches. I'm extremely fortunate to own the 5040 (Breguet hands and numerals), which I wear regularly. Its rounded tonneau case makes it slip very easily under essentially every shirt I own. The 3970 is a little taller, but I manage. (The cross I must bear)
