Hello PuristSPro forums,

Hope I'm welcome here! I am a new poster to this community and would like to share pictures of my Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Date, with the Cal 899. Understandably this is the "entry-level" model into the JLC world, however it does set the minimum standards to be expected for the brand! First photo done via focus stacking ~50 images with a macro lens and edited/merged in Photoshop.

For a basic movement it does well in my opinion. 8.8mm height case, automatic winding and central sweeping hand with a datewheel makes it just right for a dress watch and can be easily slipped under a sleeve. Movement is mostly machined and less handwork as expected from this range, but sufficient. Some minor machined anglage, engraved fonts, blued screws and a 22K rotor rim completes the package. Radial cotes de geneve as characteristic of a JLC movement. Not to say more than has been already (all over the internet), please find my pics below:

This is my starting point into higher-end horology and hope to obtain greater pieces someday (Duometre Chrono, some other brands, etc..)

Regards,
skyeriding

Welcome!

And what a fantastic piece to start the journey. Like you, I started with the Master Control from the early 2000's. And to this day, it remains the most accurate watch in my collection. Gorgeous photos! Once again, welcome! Pete

I am very happy to welcome you with such an interesting first post!

And with such great pictures, especially the macro of the Cal 899. It has been said many times, the Cal 899 is an excellent movement. If you use our search engine, you will find several articles about it. About its decoration, it is a very honest offer from JLC. The decoration is industrial, but if you want a higher level, then you will have to go for the Duometre. And pay much more. But it is a very reliable movement, pleasant to see, and pretty accurate! So is the Master Control, a modern evoc

Many thanks for the welcome!

To be honest, I was a little weary when I first got this piece as I received a lemon. However after receiving a replacement, it works flawlessly. Indeed industrial and simple; honest watchmaking as others have mentioned. My quick personal notes of what the watch is all about: Machined anglage, mass blued-screws (albeit thermally), machined engraving, regulator and not freesprung, 22k gold rotor rim for mass, ceramic ball bearings for rotor, hacking seconds, sturdy but smooth winding crown actuat

Thanks for your answer.

Yes, probably your strap comes CF which is the official provider of straps for JLC. Thanks, also, for your feedback on the folding buckle. Not a big fan of it, as it " pinches " my wrist too often, and much prefer the fomer simple folding buckle. As the the dial, I totally agree. There are some nice details which were worth being mentioned. Best, Nicolas

Wonderful photos.

The simplest watches are often the most elegant. Yours is a great choice.
