Nicolas (amanico) brings to light a truly sublime, yet sometimes overshadowed, icon from Jaeger-LeCoultre: the Mark 11, specifically an example issued for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). His detailed photographs highlight the watch's exceptional dial, case, and the distinctive movement, challenging contemporary perceptions of watch sizing and celebrating a piece of horological history that continues to captivate collectors.

There are some Jaeger Lecoultre icons we are often posting here, such as the Geophysic, the Reverso, the Polaris and the Deep Sea Alarm.

But there is another one which is just sublime, the Mark 11, here issued for the Royal Australian Navy.

The dial and case are really superb.

Who said that 35 mm is too small?

And, last but not least, the movement!

The cherry on the cake, the big arrow on the movement.

A treasure.

Best,

Nicolas

The big arrow is a very nice detail, indeed. Was it legal for soldiers to sell their watches back in the 60s? Or to put it differently: Is there any way this watch came on the market legally? Amazing piece - so happy to see it now in the hands of people

who really appreciate it!

Maybe not in the 60's, but after some decades, why not?

It really is, my friend. To be seen and " felt " in the real life.

Very nice Nico

A simple, charming, classic -- and reminder that vintage has a certain appeal that new can't quite match. Which reminds me of my first car, fully restored. This isn't mine but it's the same model, color, wheels, etc. My current car is 'better' but lacks something this one has, not unlike the Mark XI compared to newer watches. www.hemmings.com .html#&gid=1&pid=1
