Gus7 shares his experiences with Jaeger-LeCoultre in Hong Kong, detailing the exceptional welcome he received from the JLC team and the various exclusive events he attended. His post highlights the vibrant collector community and the brand's engagement efforts in the region, offering a glimpse into the luxury watch scene in Hong Kong.
Firstly, I apologise for the long post! I have been meaning to capture these individually but time is short and has flown by...
I moved here to Hong Kong last year. The welcome from all the JLC team here has been fantastic. I have a few JLC's in my collection and have always been a great admirer of the Manufacture. Currently I have amongst my favourites the Tribute to Polaris 1968, the 1958 Tribute Geophysic and, possibly my absolute favourite, the Reverso GMT (perhaps the very last watch I would ever sell). I have others, and others have come and gone (the 1931 Tribute to Reverso for example) but the admiration of the brand remains undimmed.
Since moving I worried that perhaps I would need time to build up relations with the boutiques here in HK but not so, Tim in the Landmark JLC boutique has been nothing short of fantastic in his accommodating my wife and I with opportunities to immerse ourselves further in the JLC family! Of course, this has come at a price! I am expecting next week delivery of the newly released Reverso Tribute Duo Blue dial and it seems my wife has fallen for one of the Louboutin Revers0s to add to her current small JLC family!
First event attended was a great cocktail evening at the boutique at 1881 Heritage where I was smitten with the Reverso Tribute although others also caught my eye..
My wife deciding she rather liked this one too...!
The very beautiful email dial.
Then I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend a small dinner at the very impressive Caprice, where in a private dining room we lucky few were able to handle a number of the new releases but also hear first hand about the history and evolution of the Gyrotourbillon range as well as see all four in the flesh. Incredible! And what to me was most interesting was the "wearability" of the most recent edition. Truly beautiful. It was an incredible evening and I count myself very fortunate to have been invited.
The Reverso Tribute Duo again!
Apologies for the awful photograph! too excited!
Next, I was part of a small group invited to a fun gathering, all very top secret, to share in some exciting news which I have said I will not share just yet but suffice to say, I think will be something really special for JLC collectors in HK! I'm sure I will post more in due course.
On Friday last week we had the Father's Day Watches and Scottish Malt Whisky evening, details of which have already been posted! I shall not add to this other than to say it was again a pleasure to meet with a number of local collectors as well as the JLC team! The monogrammed Cigar case was a particular surprise and delight!
Then, on Saturday, I got to do something I have wanted to do for ages! Namely, my wife and I got to go to do a watchmaking class on the 986 Duo movement. Super fun, Maxim here in HK who trained with JLC and has been with them since, was very patient in looking after the four of us with humour and great instruction! I now have a new found respect for the challenges of disassembling and reassembling movements at service! A couple of hours of great fun fuelled with macaroons and espresso! At the end of which we received our Certificates but rest assured I won't be allowed loose on your watches any time soon!!
I want to finish by thanking Tim in the boutique in Landmark but also everyone else I have met since moving here involved with JLC. It has been a series of wonderful opportunities to meet with new friends!

About the Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Ref. Polaris1968
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Polaris 1968 is a notable iteration of the Memovox line, distinguished by its multi-crown design and internal rotating bezel. This particular reference is recognized for its robust case construction and the integration of an alarm function, a signature complication of the Memovox series, presented in a sport-oriented configuration. It represents a specific period in the development of the Memovox collection, offering a distinct aesthetic and functional profile.
This timepiece features a stainless steel case, measuring 42mm in diameter. It is powered by an automatic movement, specifically the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber K825, which provides the time, alarm, and an internal rotating bezel function. The crystal protecting the dial is acrylic, contributing to its period-correct appearance. The movement offers a power reserve suitable for daily wear.
For collectors, the Memovox Polaris 1968 holds interest due to its unique design elements and its place within the broader history of alarm watches. Its three-crown configuration, with one crown for winding and setting the time, another for setting and activating the alarm, and a third for operating the internal bezel, makes it a distinctive piece. The watch appeals to those who appreciate mid-century sports watch designs with integrated complications.
