His post highlights personal favorites like the Duometre and Reverso Gran Sport Chronograph, setting the stage for collectors to reveal their horological dreams for the festive season.
The Lecoultre Chronograph E 2644 represents a specific period in the brand's history when it produced chronographs utilizing external movement suppliers. This reference stands apart from the brand's more commonly known in-house calibers, offering a different facet of its mid-20th century production.
This chronograph features a 37-38mm case, often characterized by distinctive lugs, housing a Valjoux 72 manual-winding chronograph movement. The Valjoux 72 is a column-wheel chronograph caliber known for its robust construction and reliability, featuring a 12-hour chronograph function. The dial design typically includes three registers for the chronograph functions.
For collectors, the E 2644 is notable for its rarity and the integration of a respected external chronograph movement within a Lecoultre-signed timepiece. Its scarcity in the market makes it a sought-after reference for those interested in the diverse range of chronographs produced during this era, particularly within the context of a prominent Swiss manufacture.
1. The Grail - Reverso Grand Taille Latitude Marine Collection Blue Lacquer Dial - Lowest RRP, only one that is not numbered but amazingly still the rarest of the three (I don't think I've ever seen a picture of one on this site) 2. The realistic one - Reverso Geographique Rose Gold LE 500 (planning to actually get one by year's end) 3. The platinum masterpiece - Reverso Tourbillion Number Two Platinum Cheers! Would love to see some wrist shots of these pieces if any of you are keen to share
Love all of them. I never saw the blue laquered Marine you posted in the real. The Platinum Nr 2 is topissime, a true jewel. And the Geographique adds a friendly touch, through its complication. While we are mentioning the Platinum Nr 2, what about this special version? Only 35 pieces, a piece of Art... Best, Nicolas
That's a beautiful piece too. One of the nicest skeleton watches from any brand
In this case, I would happily make an exception and keep on dreaming. Indeed... Best, Nicolas
Haha. The crazy thing is, even the various Reverso Tourbillions appear for sale more often that the Blue Lacquer Reverso Latitude. Don't know why on earth that one is so rare. From what I've gathered from talking to a few JLC boutiques, it was only produced for less than 1 year then discontinued. Two of the boutiques even said that none of their staff had ever seen the piece. So strange. Haha, guess it makes the perfect grail piece. The search continues...
But try to find a Reverso Platinum Tourbillon Skeleton... You will have a lot of fun trying to find one.. Best, Nicolas
