Very happy to pick up my first JLC. A preowned LE Duometre Chronograph in White Gold.

Here's a pic to share here. Love watching the chronograph in action withe the 1/6th spinning / jumping second. A spectacle to behold.

I have some questions though...

1) The watch was originally dated 2011 in the warranty book. Is it time to send it in for service? Unfortunately, the service waiting period is quoted at 5 to 6 months as the watch is considered a "high complication" and have to be sent back to Geneva for service. Or alternatively, since the watch is running fine, should I just leave it as it is, ie if it ain't broke, don't fix ? The watch is of course already out of warranty.

2) I noticed the finishing on the sweeping second hand ( time function ) is less than perfect with some blemish on it. Is this considered normal ( ie I am too OCD ) or should I asked for a change if I do sent it in for service? Now the blemish is only noticeable if I eye-ball the watch and only under certain bright lighting.

I think it's more noticeable in this pic :

Thank you in advance.

Regards
Ben

Having it serviced is probably a good idea

First off, congrats on this very nice JLC! I think I\'d checked out this very same watch before (looking at the serial number). On your questions, since it\'s unclear how the previous owner wore the watch, and it\'s a complicated piece as you already know, a few months at the spa now may prevent you from a much longer wait and a heftier repair bill down the road. It\'s also generally good practice to service these watches regularly. Regarding the blemish on the seconds hand, I can\'t tell from t

Congrats on that gorgeous piece

Now having just received it, suggesting to send it back to service for 5-6 months is a cruel suggestion. If I were, I would enjoy it first for a while and if the need arises then consider a full service. For the hand, that is probably routinely changed on service anyhow and will not cost a bomb. If you can live with it for now, enjoy the watch first. CC

BTW: jumping 1/6 sec is cool

but jumping 1/8 sec is very cool

Congrats. This is a KILLER watch (and a Grail for many). Lovely work securing No.001 as well!!!

Having bought quite a few watches second hand, my feeling is this. If you can live with the hand having blemishes and if the watch keeps good time - wear it now and "ride it hard". This watch is still in production, so JLC will always be able to restore it to spec condition at service. Just my $0.02
