Nicolas (amanico) challenges his own preferences by spotlighting the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calendar Disc Ref. 2777, a watch that makes him appreciate unique date displays beyond the typical 'big date.' He shares images of both steel and rose gold versions, along with a brochure extract, to illustrate the charm and originality of its calendar disc mechanism. This post delves into the aesthetic and mechanical ingenuity of a vintage JLC reference.

If you know me a bit, you certainly wonder what i happening to me... The Vlad? Beautiful Date? Come on!

Well, there are some watches with date I love: The Lange Datograph, the Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso Septantième, for example. You will tell me that I am speaking of big date, OK, but I also like dates when they are original.

Which leads us to the Jaeger Lecoultre 2777, with its calendar disc.

Here you change the date through the pusher in the crown. Simple, friendly.

And here the date is part of the dial, it doesn't spoil its beauty or harmony.

Here is a steel one I could see some years ago. Alas, the hands were not correct.

Here a rose gold one ( Credit picture: Antiquorum ).

As a bonus, an extract of the Brochure:

Best,

Nicolas

Interesting, displaying the date Memovox-like!

Are the hands of the gold version correct?
