This year Jacob has made a fine improvement in the case for the Astronomia, has gone over the top with the Billionaire and continued with their complication watches, most noticably the repeaters.

Last years Astronomia has been updated with a new case that is really mind boggling.  Just a thin skeleton of gold with tremendious sapphire windows.  I can not imagine that it would be possible to open up the view even more without making the entire case only of sapphire.  The biggest news, however, is that the sapphire windows are the best anti-reflection treated sapphires I have ever seen.  There is no reflection to be seen and also no traces of coloring.  Just amazing, anti-reflection as I imagine it.

Here a selection of pictures of a watch that remains just as entrancing as it was last year.  Real kinetic sculpture, slow and calming, but all moves fast enough that you can see it moving.  And I never thought I would say it, but the diamond background does bring a lot more life into the picture than the dark aventurine, I like it alot.

This years big new news is the "Billionaire", the watch with the most diamonds ever made, 260 carats.  If you need it, at least it now exists.

The more "normal" watches of Jacob are somehow overshadowed by the Astronomia and the Billionaire.  Nice openwork tourbillons.

Is the watch wearable?

Hi Don, Regarding the Astronomia, The last picture is the wrist shot I was looking for. But I can\'t see how large it really is. Do you know the dimensions? If it could sit (safely bolted down) on my desk ... Rather than my wrist ... No doubt others have consulted on or assisted Jacob&Co. with this watch? Mike

Depends on your useage...

Not the right watch to wear when changing your spark plugs. However for starting conversations at a coctail party I'm sure it is just the right thing. For more info see my Jacob & Co. report from BaselWorld 2014 . Don
