Mach's early glimpse of the IWC Tribute to the 3705, shared directly from the CEO's Instagram, sparked immediate discussion among collectors. This post captures the initial community reaction to the watch's design and specifications, offering a valuable snapshot of enthusiast sentiment at its launch. It highlights the ongoing dialogue around heritage re-issues and their market positioning.

The IWC Portuguese Chronograph reference 3705 represents the brand's approach to classical chronograph complications within the Portuguese collection. This reference features a black dial configuration, distinguishing it from other colorway options within the Portuguese Chronograph range.
The 40.9mm stainless steel case houses an automatic movement and incorporates sapphire crystal protection. Water resistance extends to 30 meters with a fixed bezel construction. The black dial provides the primary visual character for this particular reference within the series.
Reference 3705 appeals to collectors seeking a Portuguese Chronograph in stainless steel with the contrast offered by the black dial. This reference serves collectors who prefer darker dial configurations within IWC's Portuguese chronograph offerings, providing an alternative to lighter dial variants in the same case size and material combination.
New product official reveal is set for 3 am EST Thursday 2/25.
Is it ceratanium? I miss the fearless , the romance and the patina of 3705
But if that price is correct...a bit absurd right???
Or, at least, what would you have expected to see given all the hype?
And apparently buyers have developed big tolerance levels. Just compare prices of new launches with 2010 and you'll be surprised...
EUR 12,700 is absolutely insane. At that price point I'd get an Omega Speedmaster 321 over a Valjoux 7750 based chronograph, however much it is improved and refinished. Also, 15.3mm. The original 3750 is already quite thick and difficult to fit under a cuff at 14.5mm, and they think it's a good idea to add almost 1mm in thickness? A swing and a miss.
