Nacelle's original post delves into a pivotal question for IWC collectors: Does the Big Pilot 5002-01 set the definitive standard for all subsequent Big Pilot iterations? This discussion explores the enduring appeal and iconic status of the 5002-01, inviting collectors to share their perspectives on what makes this reference, or any other Big Pilot, truly special. Readers will gain insight into the nuanced preferences and historical context that shape collectors' views on this significant IWC model.

Once upon a time I had the 5002. I loved it for many years then sold it as the size and weight was a little too much for me. A couple years later I jumped back into the game with a Titanium. The Ti makes a huge difference comfort wise over the steel, and the color of the metal is a little less showy which I appreciate. But, I agree with you... the 5002 is the icon, especially the slow beat which I love watching it somewhat clumsily tick away. I think the 5002 would look the best in my watch box,
Which is more my taste, But it is a real beast and a tempting one! Best, Nicolas
I doesnβt really get worn as my interests have moved on but I feel it is the iconic one without belittling the other iterations.
This is my favourite by far. I will think about it if I start classes for my bomber licence some day
My only wish was they could have made it more like the original B-Uhr from 1940...
IWC needs serious reform when it comes to their model lineup.
