Watches have been a part of my family's tradition for a long time. I was gifted my first special watch when I was just 13 years old. At various landmarks throughout, watches have marked key points. It was with some trepidation that I continued the tradition with my son. He has now a small collection of various watches, but with his 18th birthday coming, I was not sure what to get him. With the help of a very dear friend of mine, we researched various watches and in the end went for the IWC 666. My son will start at medical school next September and is through and through a scientist. The IWC seemed a perfect choice. Well, he received the watch a few days ago and has asked if I would post his watch under my banner to describe it and unfold some of the parts that make it special.

So, first of all, some scans....

IWC strap.....yes...again..amazingly gifted by Blomman

But...watch by Mum and Dad!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for such a wonderful gift. It is very special for me to be able to continue the tradition of watches within my family, and I know I will really treasure this for years to come. I will most certainly take a great deal of pleasure in wearing it!

My thanks also go to Blomman for the original buckle and a black IWC strap to go with the watch (pictured) as well as the fantastic box and hang tags. I really appreciate his generosity and thoughtfulness. These certainly make a special addition to the watch.

Gerald

Watches can be very special. They mark not just time, but "times" as well. Times we like to remember. Times we cherish and treasure. For us, as a family, these watches represent fantastic memories... and that is what makes them priceless. Blomman, you went above and beyond with your generosity here. You are part of the family here.

Hope you enjoy the scans....and Nicolas.....given that my son says I can borrow his 666 any time I want, that leaves you rather in the cold on missing 666, right? Step up, man!

Life is great, eh.

Gerald, bravo, my young friend.

You have wonderful parents, your parents have great friends ( Blomman is a true gentleman, and an excellent friend ), and you, Gerald, have excellent taste in watches. Hey, let your father bring it with him, from time to time, I may be able to see it in the flesh, and to take some photos. Superb, Gerald, and congrats for your brilliant studies. When we fall ill, now, we know who to consult! :) Best, Nicolas

Dear Gerald,

Please let me congratulate you on your eighteens birthday! In Sweden 18 is a very special birthday - "When the boy becomes a man"! This is the age when you get the privilege to vote, get your driving's license, drink alcohol, get married... Only thing you have to wait another two years for here in Sweden is buying alcohol, for that you need to be 20... ;) My pleasure, young man! I am very happy your parents let me be a small part of your celebration. This watch of yours is a fantastic watch and
