Jay (Eire) shares a personal reflection on his IWC watch, a piece he's owned for nearly a decade but rarely wears. His post offers a candid look at how personal tastes evolve and how even a cherished watch can become a 'safe queen.' This discussion highlights the subjective nature of watch collecting and the unexpected choices we make, especially during unique times like working from home.

This is a watch I’ve owned for 9 years.  It’s a watch I do not wear that much these days, or for the last four or five years for that matter.

With the WFM situation, it’s the end of week 4 for me, I’ve actually not worn a watch (other that for working out) for this entire time.

Today I decided it was the day to finally wear a watch and oddly (to me) this is what I choose.  Goes well with sweatpants and a hoodie (the WFM uniform).

It has always been a very photogenic watch.

As for the strap, if you’re going to have a 44mm gold watch on your wrist you’d might as well own it.  Browns and tans etc are for another piece!

I wear a Garmin every day; I always do. Workout watch; GPS, Heart Rate, Power (for the bike) etc. It’s not that strange as I usually take my watch off when I get in from work (assuming I’m not going out again).

It also catches light very very well. (Of course I’m only talking about the aesthetic elements here and have not given any acknowledgment to the technical).

I was also looking at a moss green at the time, and also something even brighter.
