Foversta delivers a hands-on review of the Hublot Classic Fusion Vendôme Collection, a special series celebrating the brand's boutique anniversary in Paris. This article meticulously details the watch's unique bronze dial, design elements, and the thoughtful integration of Parisian luxury into its aesthetic, while also critically evaluating its movement choice.

That's it, step by step, the Place Vendôme is regaining its former glory as evidenced by the recent reopening of the Ritz Paris, the famous palace. The numerous works during the last years years had finally divert the tourists, the strollers and the clients from this yet magical place. Fortunately, the end of these works is now very close (even if some may start again!) and the Place Vendôme will be able very soon to become again what it should never have ceased to be, the ultimate symbol of Parisian luxury. The timing is perfect for Hublot which took the opportunity of the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the boutique located at the number 10 of the Place to unveil a special series (but not limited): the  Classic Fusion "Vendôme Collection". This watch, which will be exclusively sold for 3 months in the boutique will be later available in other points of sale. However, the best location to purchase it remains indeed this boutique since Hublot wanted to recreate the spirit of the Place Vendôme through several details that make it so special.

The starting point of this special series is usual since it is a Classic Fusion base featuring a  45mm titanium case with polished and brushed parts. Such diameter can be a bit frightening but the width of the bezel and the integration of the bracelet in the case reduces the perceived size. Moreover, taking into account the thickness which is a bit less than 11mm, the watch has a lovely slender appearance.

The piece's originality lies in its dial. In order to pay tribute to the Vendôme Column which has dominated the famous square since 1810, Hublot has used a bronze dial and confined it into a sapphire capsule to make it unalterable. The advantage of the use of such alloy is that each dial becomes unique. Indeed, green and golden marbling draw random patterns and actually  I was pleasantly surprised to see that the dials of the two demonstration watches were radically different. I love this original dial rendering  that blends well with the Classic Fusion design. And obviously, I will not forget the excellent idea to remove the date window! The purity and balance of the dial are preserved and I can only welcome this decision.

The link with the column is reinforced by a friendly wink located on the brand logo. The right shaft of the Hublot H is replaced by a discrete and nicely done representation of the column. An excellent initiative which gives a touch of character to the watch without falling into a kitsch design.

If the dial side is convincing, the movement side is unfortunately less appealing. The Classic Fusion "Vendôme Collection" is animated by a HUB1100 movement with a 4hz frequency and a 42-hour power reserve. It is actually a Sellita SW300 caliber. This movement works with reliability and its wide distribution ensures its durability. However, it is not particularly beautiful and I found  the winding mass a little sad. In this context, a solid caseback with an engraving of the Place Vendome would have been in my opinion a better idea.

As always with Hublot, the watch is worn with comfort thanks to the excellent folding clasp and the flexible black rubber and calfskin strap with a vintage touch. This color appears to my eyes more taupe gray than brown (as announced by Hublot in the press release) and it is successful and ideally complements the dial.

The Hublot Classic Fusion "Vendôme Collection" is a watch that attracted me thanks to the presentation of its dial which is simple and refined. Its spirit is faithful to the the Place Vendôme one since Hublot adopted a discreet approach. However, I regret the austere presentation of the movement that should have led to a different way to design the caseback.

Thanks  to Magna Press and to the team of the Hublot boutique of the Place Vendome.

Pros:
+ An attractive bronze dial
+ The small detail on the logo
+ No date window
+ The comfort on the wrist

Cons:
- A solid caseback would have been a better solution

Yes. "A solid caseback with an engraving of the Place Vendome" would be a preferable choice.

Nothing beats seeing a piece in person and your report is quite insightful. Good points made about the back. Though I prefer an exhibition back, unless it somehow continues the theme, it's kinda pointless.

Dear fx, Thank you for another review of a watch that sirs nicely on your wrist. I agree with all your words with my distant view and lacking the hands on. The concept of the dial appears interesting. Yet, the effective beauty would have to judged on the individual piece itself. Do you happen to have the picture of the other demonstration watch? The details you listed on dial side are pleasing. Yet, they should have asked the same designer for the backside, too. I sadly feel that attention to de

the movement is a total let down and I cannot justify a watch in this price range without an in-house movement.

and I have to agree with you... I think even as an exhibition case back fan... on this time it does not deliver. I would like to see a few of these dials next to each other to see how the patina is different, the press kits showed a few variations, so would be interesting to see. I do like it a lot and especially with the strap. Cheers Andrew
