The rise of the number of small independent brands has opened a whole new genre for watch collectors. There is a watch for every budget and I would like to touch on three brands which I feel offer excellent value for money yet provide all the elegance, style and class that one may need.

First the soon to launched Signature model from the Sero Watch Company from the Netherlands with a 37.5mm case with a height of 9.5mm. Powered by a Sellita manual winding movement, this watch priced at 890 euros is somewhat of a steal. Don't be put off by the 'sold out' signs on their website, The owner has clarified that the actual launch will be on 29 March 2026.

Nest up, is the Rivanera Piccolo by the Italian brand, Echo Neutra. Measuring 33mm x 26mm with a thickness of 6.9mm, this titanium cased watch is priced at 1,640 euros. Not bad considering it houses a Sellita automatic movement.

And lastly for the big spenders among you, there is the Capri from De Rijke & Co, another Dutch offering offering incomparable elegance in its 38mm x 28.5mm case with a 6.5mm height. Powered by a La Joux Perret manual winding movement, this gem is priced at 2,195 euros.

Spoiled for choice? My exact dilemma smile

The very classical looking Signature from the Sero Watch Company

The Rivanera Piccolo, one of the best looking square shaped watches in the market (Cartier Santos included!)

The Capri with an aventurine dial. There is also an option of a black onyx dial.

thin enough?! smile

Exclusitivity guaranteed as it is only limited to only 50 pieces per variant.

About the Grönefeld Signature Series Ref. Signature Series

The Sero Watch Company, a contemporary Dutch microbrand, has quickly established itself by offering timepieces that blend classic aesthetics with modern execution. The Signature Series, as depicted, stands as a foundational pillar of their collection, embodying the brand's commitment to traditional watchmaking principles. Rather than drawing from a long historical lineage within the brand itself, Sero's designs are inspired by the timeless elegance of mid-20th-century dress watches, characterized by their clean lines, exceptional legibility, and understated sophistication, making them accessible to a new generation of collectors.

This particular iteration of the Signature Series features a 38mm stainless steel case, a dimension that respects vintage proportions while remaining versatile for contemporary wear. The dial, presented here in a refined silver-grained finish, is a hallmark of the series, distinguished by its unique, hand-drawn Arabic numerals and a precisely printed minute track. Complementing this design are the blued steel hands, a traditional horological detail that ensures excellent legibility against the light dial and adds a touch of classic elegance. Powering the watch is a Swiss-made Sellita SW210-1 manual-wind movement, a robust and reliable caliber that further enhances the classic appeal by requiring daily interaction from the wearer.

The Sero Watch Company Signature Series occupies a distinct position within the modern watch market, appealing to collectors who appreciate quality independent watchmaking without the prohibitive cost often associated with established luxury brands. Its thoughtful design, combined with a reliable Swiss movement and a focus on accessible luxury, makes it a compelling choice for both new enthusiasts and seasoned collectors seeking a well-executed, everyday classic. While not positioned as a high-value secondary market investment, its intrinsic value lies in its honest horological execution and the satisfaction of supporting a passionate independent maker.
