news to me that Hodinkee was sold to Watches of Switzerland. Just read the story in the NY Times. While this move doesn't come as a surprise, I would like to know what you make of it.

My 2ยข is one of those $1 sale

Obviously I don't know the details but they have lost quite a bit of money for some years and they engaged in the inventory clearance which seems like an action to repay debts to me. LVMH probably don't want to inject more capital and just write it off. So 'old' management comes back to take it over with an outside backer in WoS.

As someone who checks out Hodinkee maybe once a month....

I'll continue to do so, and not be too concerned who owns it or how it's run. ITS A FREE SITE. So basically none of my business how it's run. So many people in the Hodinkee comments section seem to think they have an ownership stake in it and complain all the time.
