AndrewD's post invites WatchProSite members to share their favorite heat-blued steel hands, a hallmark of fine watchmaking. This article delves into the aesthetic appeal and technical artistry behind this traditional finishing technique, showcasing examples from Dornblüth and F.P. Journe. Readers will discover the subtle beauty and craftsmanship that elevate blued hands beyond mere functionality.
Here are a couple of my favourites: the Dornbluth Jasmin and the F.P.Journe Octa RdM.
What are yours?
Andrew

...I'm partial to De Bethune's heat blued Ti hands which surely deserve mention?

Ahh, blued hands, I looked without luck several years where I'm located in India for a good watch or clock maker to blue hands for some of my clocks, before giving up and going ahead to learn the job myself helped by a dear friend in CA, and George Daniel's amazing book 'Watchmaking.' It took much effort and practice, but got the job done in the end to satisfaction. Glad to share some hands I blued myself here... not perfect, but far improved on the rusty, pitted look they earlier had. Rishad
This one just because it's on my wrist now and I love the clean, crisp look: And this one, which always makes me smile:
Hi All How about the hands on this Nomos - think they rather fab. Elegant and simple - barely there at all. Cheers JML
