Amanico's initial encounter with the Grönefeld Gronograaf at Watches and Wonders, followed by a second viewing with Don Justino, prompts a nuanced reflection on its aesthetic versus mechanical appeal. His post invites collectors to consider what truly defines a 'Champions League' chronograph in the independent watchmaking sphere.

Don Justino showed me his Gronograaf. It is the second time I see it, the first being at Geneva at W and W.

I still wonder what are my feelings, here.

Mechanically, I am more convinced than aesthetically, I think.

But no doubt that this Chronograph belongs to the Champions League of fine chronographs.

Best,

Nicolas

Can you tell us what the counter at 11 o'clock is for? is it some kind of power reserve?

That's how I feel about all Gronefelds: very convincing mechanics, not quite convincing aesthetics.
