Been a while since I had any news to report on my Seiko collection and there are still months before any additions to the stable are likely. On the other hand, there is a new phone in the stable, with a better camera, so just some shots of the Grand Seiko SBGH035 smile As it has been so warmly received, in the armchair format as pioneered by Cazalea recently biggrin Here with pictures telling the story, and only minimal text...

I am not sure I have posted movement shots of the SBGH035 yet. The finishing is solid, if not spectacular and the golden GS lion on the rotor is a nice touch. Still, the watch could just as well have a solid case back, too. It is more the case, the dial, the hands, hour markers and the precision that count in this particular case...

This is what I mean - and also the more standard perspective smile

Here a shot of the raised and domed sapphire...

And finally leaving the couch, as an au revoir wink Still my favourite Seiko and one I do not get tired of. It just exceeds all expectations - from being always interesting to look at, to having a power reserve suspiciously way in excess of the stated 55 hours, in spite of a single barrel and the High Beat movement. Not that I complain - I hardly ever need to set it, as it is always still ticking when I take it out of the box. smile

Thanks for the summary of experience

GS is highly understated, as you've said, and the accuracy is spot on. Comparable to quartz...almost! Thanks for the great photos as well which really shows the perspectives of what makes a GS so great! One thing I've noticed about the Grand Seiko's as compared to other watches - the movement seems to dazzle a little more with the stripes and it looks a lot deeper. May be an illusion, but one that I like very much.

Welcome :)

You mean the stripes are deeper? Or the movement? The latter is certainly not slim

The movement.

Has a nice depth to it.

It is quite three dimensional :)

As they never intended it to be thin, they could play with the added dimension...

Beautiful and subtle.

Classis. I have been resisting getting a GS for a while, but lately, I find myself seeking them out more and more. I love the finishing and especially the feeling on the wrist.
